I read somewhere in the NY Post or NY Daily News that Rex was looking to pick up Corey Ivy if both Sheppard and Strickland are out. Anyone hear anything on this???
According to my boy who just listened to Rex Ryan's press-conference. There'll be no signings. They're gonna try to flip Eric Smith and roll with Coleman and Lowery. I for one, am looking forward to seeing how Cole does as well. This will be a true testament of where our depth will be for the rest of the season.
I was hoping to see one of the two out there. Losing both for this week really hurts. Drew Coleman sucks and Revis can only cover 1 guy. Rex has gotta be dialing up a ton of blitzes for Sunday.
To compound matters, Kerry Rhodes tweeted he's feeling under the weather today. That could complicate things if he's not 100%.
Before our first game would anyone have been fretting over Strickland being out for a game ? I trust Rex/Pettine to have a functioning package of DB's ready for the game. Having siad that my only concern remains Drew Coleman - he couldn't cover a sandwich if he was cling wrap.
Remember, A Team's best Secondary is a Pass Rush!! Coleman actually played ok last game. Why? Because he didn't have to stay with the damn crossing route for 8 seconds. I think Lowery can be ok but what bothered me after reviewing the game is that on bump&run or when we lined up right on the receiver, Revis wan lined up directly but the 2nd CB gave a 3-5yd cushion at times. That happened quite often vs Tenn. but it all panned out. I think it boiled down to knowing the limitations of your personell.... My bigger fear is a 5WR setup w/ Bush. But hey, Remember when I was telling people not to bitch about keeping all those DB's on the roster!
Well this isn't good going up against a passing attack like the saints. I Guess we gotta Blitz all day and force bad throws. We let brees sit back there he's going to rape us.
im sorry but lowery is not going to get it done for us against new orleans. kherry rhodes has gotta step up this game.
Ummm he's 6'3", 220 lbs and runs a 4.3 40. He knows the offense and Drew has confidence in him now. You right, nothing to worry about. And the fact he is our best YAC receiver, who can turn a 5 yd out pattern to a 70 yd TD, I wouldnt worry about anything.
In 14 games last year he only caught 12 passes and this year only 3 in 3 games. Sorry for not being scared by that
Right and he averages 20 YPC. He is our 4th option & our best blocking WR. I guess its a good thing when a first rd draft pick can be brought along slow because of WR depth. Trust me, Im not into talking smack, Meach is a beast and a big play guy. Last year was basically his rookie year. He was inactive all of 2007 w/ injuries. IIRC, he had like 6 TDs last year, not bad for only having 12 catches. Meach & Devery stretches the field, CBs have to respect their speed, which leaves the middle open for Moore, Shockey & Colston, pick your poison. But looking at stats alone, I can see why he doesnt scare you.
Not good. We're going to have to get added pressure and try to force a couple of turnovers, because we sure can't keep up in man coverage with Lowery and Coleman. We're going to have to ensure that we keep them down to 3 receiver sets by forcing a TE to block.
And w/ us playing w/ a back up LT, I dont see too many 4-5 WR sets. That would compromise protection and I dont think SP is willing to take a chance of Brees getting clobbered. If Strief proves he can handle the RDE & is playing a good game, I can see us opening up somethings in the 2nd half. But for all the talk of the Saints having this crazy O, its actually pretty conservative. Its just that Drew brees is so good at finding the open guy, it may seem like 5 guys are out in the pattern, when actually there may only be 2 Wrs & a TE. Ofcourse the checkdowns to reggie are a big part of our O as well.
