You have to worry if last week was Brees' 1 down week for awhile and this week continues his onslaught
exactly alot of these Saints fans dont even realize that. lol they throw around numbers theyll find out the only numbers that matter are the ones on the back of the players jerseys. throw out all their stats come game day, some of them are in for a rude awakening. not implying we go in and win or demolish them. but I expect alot of them to watch a team they considered GODLY be rendered very mortal.
You can twist stats anyway you want to make them look good. The problem with your premise is that the offenses the Jets played are ranked lower, but when you consider its a three game sample it speaks voulmes that the Jets D actually had a big factor in those rankings. When it comes down to football though , throw the stats out the window because as the old saying goes - any given Sunday. Do I expect a good game - absolutely. Do I think either team will win by a big margin - no. I expect it to be a close game in the 27-24 range with turnovers or mistakes to be the deciding factor. I hope and think the Jets can win , but I can see this game going either way.
Yes, just look at the numbers here if you want to talk numbers. Texans Wk1 183yds 7pts (defensive score, offense scored zero pts) Wk2 420yds 34pts Wk3 397yds 24pts Patriots Wk1 441yds 25pts Wk2 299yds 9pts Wk3 445yds 26pts Titans Wk1 320yds 10pts Wk2 449yds 31pts Wk3 286yds 17pts Bold weeks are the Jets D.
I assume that you did not read that I prefaced my post with this: "I realize the game is played on the field and throw out stats" There is no doubt through 3 games that the Jets Defense has been great, I am not saying the Saints are as good, but we have played very well so far, plus our stats look worse because of Prevent D when we are up big late. (Yes, Rex will play prevent if he gets a 20+ point lead with under 7 minutes to go, I have seen a lot of Jets fans posts that says he won't.) The bad news about your defensive stats is that as good as they are they are on a downward trend. You guys may create 10 turnovers and 7 defensive TD's and that will obviously change everything. (We could also create a few ourselves!) I just don't believe any non biased fan can argue: Saints offense in dome vs. Jets defense >> Jets offense on road vs. Saints Defense. Geaux Saints! MC
That, combined with the fact that JONATHAN GOODWIN is starting at center for the Saints makes me chuckle. The Jets and their fans are pretty familiar with Goodwin. We drafted him and he was a scrub depth player on our line for a few years. Jenks is going to eat Jonathan's lunch on Sunday.
