That may have been his first game in the weather, ever. That was the ONLY thing I was worried about when we got him. He played like a rookie for the first time and you know what? We still won. Oh, and aychichi's avatar.
That was my thought to, the kid was SoCal born and bred... think about when you play in places like Mission Viejo and Rancho Santa Margarita during your high school days and then at SC for college the elements tend to not be an issue... the only place I can think of that Sanchize played that may have had weather issues was Eugene, Corvallis, Seattle or Pullman and they only played at Pullman and Corvallis in his 1 year at the healm. I think the Oregon State game was somewhat damp but I don't remember a constant drizzle. It hasn't hurt Carson Palmer and he's in a similar boat so I won't worry too much about it.
you're just trying to pinch yourself to see if you'll wake up. quit worrying nothing's going to happen, its for real.
I thought he was too hyped up trying to force a play after his fumble turned into 7 points by the Oilers. He really needed to calm down. One thing you could see is that he wasn't smiling nearly as much as normal. Schotty needs to sit him down and help him with the emotion.
I thought the same thing and I agree, he really looked skittish and unlike himself for a good while there. the fumbles, the ducks, I was scared he might have gottena stinger and lost a little strength in the hand, BUT I think if it was anything, it was minor. He definitely recovered his mojo by the end of the game. But still: he's not the biggest guy, I'd like him to be a little more responsible.
I heard before the game that Sanchez had only played in the rain once or twice before in his life. Chalk it up to a wet ball.
I would guess they were either working on his knee or working on his neck, I didn't see anything that would lead me to believe he hurt his hand. He was reported to be rubbing his neck a bit after he went head-to-head with that safety - that got me a bit worried about him. Chad took the same kinds of chances with his body and ended up with a torn rotator cuff because he dove and landed the wrong way. They need to school this rookie on when he should be taking chances and to what extent. He could have slid for the first down and let the running game do the dirty work for him. Not that I'm really criticizing at this point, because he's a smart kid and I think he'll learn. That TD kicked ass.
Yeah the TD was a huge statement by Sanchez, letting the Jet's D know that the offense was all-in also. Definitely not worth an injury though. I'm guessing his hand just got smacked and it took awhile for him to get back to normal.
I don't know Kerry Collins was threading the needle at the same time Mark was having his troubles. If it was just a wet ball both Qb's would be having trouble.
It might be for him...he has only played in 3 games when it was raining in his life..all the way back to Pop Warner.
I think Sanchez cut his hand on that play somehow because when he outstretched his arms in the endzone celebrating it looked like his hand was all bloody...he didn't seem to conernced about it though...and it didn't affect his play obviously...
exactly i think the first two weeks spoiled some fans and now theyre realizing hes actually.....A ROOKIE! in preseason, he eyefucked his recievers. since then that hasnt been much of an issue. and now the only real knock I can have on the guy is ball security which is extremely coachable. people need to give more credit to TEN defense. and Sanchez simply got a taste of playing in a wet and windy enviroment. good to see him take his lumps now. all that being said, hes been clutch as fuck and has a stronger arm than advertised. barring some unforseeable meltdown. we lucked out with Bazooka Joe biting on such a robbery of a draft trade. he'll have more rookie moments to come. people just need to be patient. anyone remember how much of an INT machine Manning was his first few years? exactly
I reckon if the wet ball really gave him trouble (due to his lack of experience playing in the rain with a wet ball), then they'll simulate that condition in practice so he becomes accustomed to it.
they already have Rex had him doing drills with a wet ball the next day. i was gonna say "wet ball drill" but that sounds more like a porn strategy
HAHA yeah, when I said "playing with a wet ball in the rain," I considered rewording it, but said Fuck it. But yeah, good to know they're already working on improving that aspect of his game.
Collins has played a lot more football and played here with the Giants, at Carolina and at Penn State, all much wetter climates than Southern California.
lol and for almost as long as Sanchez has been potty trained. lol i dont get where that guy you quoted was goin with that.
As he grew up and played in SoCal (where I now live), just how many games did he have to deal with the weather as a factor? To further this thought, let's see how well he does this Sunday in dome which will match most conditions you'll see on any given day here in California. Bring it on! (plus there won't be a Kyle Turly to try to rip off his head)
