Chiefs trade QB Thigpen to Dolphins

Posted: September 29th, 2009 | NFL.com Staff | Tags: Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, trades, Tyler Thigpen

The Dolphins acquired QB Tyler Thigpen from Kansas City for an undisclosed draft choice, the Chiefs announced Tuesday. The Dolphins had a need at quarterback after losing starter Chad Pennington for the season with a dislocated throwing shoulder.

Pat White isn't anywhere near ready to backup Henne, and maybe Henne isn't even good enough. hmmmmmmmmmmm

The Bad News: Thigpen was decent last season for the Chiefs and is a mobile QB who could make it tough on our aggressive defensive front.

The Good News: Miami is out a draft pick for a strong 2010 class, and I guarantee they gave up more than we did for O'Connell.

    ^ probably a 5th.

Thigpen has no wins as a QB.

They gave up a conditional pick which probably means a 7th if he remains the backup..a 5th or 6th if he starts.

Man, I could have sworn somebody told me that Henne was better than any QB the Jets had.

Anybody know the details of this trade? Thigpen is actually pretty decent so I hope the Chiefs raped the Dolphins for a 2nd if he's the starter.

Thigpen could be decent QB with the wildcat, he's got some athleticism.

He also didn't have Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams in the backfield in KC.

Good News: Tyler Thigpen is Matt Cassell 1.0, same crappy arm strength same spread game that inflated his stats. Miami is out of a draft pick

Bad News: Now we cant sack Pennington this year

I liked the look of him last season when he played against us in a loss. Pretty savy and your right good athleticism, he made a bunch of good throws under pressure. I can see him getting a fair shot for the Fins.

I like Thigpen and disappointed to see him traded to the Phags. I think regardless of what KC gets in return it was a bad move as he is probably their best QB. I see it as an Oakland Raider/Garcia type deal. You can't allow your backup to be better than the guy who is getting huge bucks and to ensure that happens you get rid of the backup.

I guess it's possible that Thigpen is a viable NFL starter, but to me this only makes sense if the Dolphins already have big doubts about Henne.

I could never understand why the Chiefs didn't let Croyle and Thigpen battle it out for the QB spot. Cassel was an improvement over neither.

Between Chad vs. Rex and Tyler vs. Rex, I would've preferred Chad. Whatever. We're still gonna get two wins.

I posted this in another thread, but I think it's worth to post it here as well. This is what Dolfag fans are discussing about the Thigpen trade.

    This is pretty ridiculous.
