I just heard that the Ford's did not buy out the TIX which is something of the norm when teams are going to be blacked out....

and that the NFL did not lift it so I'm guessing it was blacked out...

Can someone confirm because if it was, that's a damn shame as Detroit has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country howthefuk are they gonna pay for TIX!?

Yes, it was. The people in Detroit did NOT see the Lions win.

All those union people making a ton of money to sit on their ass aren't gonna get sympathy from me. Detroit is the perfect example of what's wrong with this country.

Car companies going bankrupt because the unions are too strong and making the cost of business uncompetitive...what happens? Obama bails out the car companies...calls the shareholders with guaranteed bonds "Greedy" and basically gives the company to the same unions that caused them to go bankrupt in the first place.

They don't go to the games because the team is pathetic...the owners are pathetic. I bet half the city could care less about the Lions and whether they were on TV.

Getting back to the original point. The blackout rule is kinda dumb but I can understand why it is in place. The day the Steelers fail to sellout is the day the Earth stands still.

While I whole heartedly agree with your post what happens here is that Detroit gets painted w/a broad brush.

Yes the AWUnions are greedy and are basically extortionists but we can't forget about the rest of Detroit.
To me that's a big problem.

ALL of Detroit suffers not just the Motor industry.

Yes, but the motort industry IS Detroit. A very high percentage of people work for the motor industry, work for suppliers of the motor industry, or work in services (health care, food and clothing retailers, ect.) used by the former two. The City is at about 25% unemplyment last I heard and its not getting better anytime soon. Even the Mighty Red Wings, a Dertoit staple for years who have a long record of Success, have felt the pinch. Its not a pretty sight there right now.

There's a great article in the new Time magazine about Detroit. Shockingly, Time is very critical of the UAW and the teacher's unions in the city.
