I think its fine. There are other worse "superfans" out there that represent other teams. I'm cool with Fireman Ed getting on tv once in a while and being a fan ambassador.

I like it. I like the fact that a working class guy represents us as a fan base. Better then some cock goblin wearing spiked shoulder pads or an old dude wearing nothing but a barrel or a bunch of cross dressers with pig snouts. I like the guy.

He tore his ACL or something-

He was inactive that whole season.

They should send out a mini 1 or something o all season tix holders, why does this guy get all the glory......

His responses were great though, he gave credit to all Jet fans.

    From Wiki Answers

As far as I can remember and I am 36, the chant started at Shea Stadium between the upper endzone seats and the opposite side of the field. It was a battle of who was louder. At some point it just joined together as one. Fireman Ed, who sits in the lower level end zone seats, has led the chant in Giants Stadium for about the last 8 years or so. The field and TV cameras focus on him and he extends his arms out like a jet plane to quiet the crowd and then goes into a "YMCA" like hand movements spelling out J E T S. The fans try to be as loud as possible. I still get chills everytime and a sense of pride that we as fans are here because we love the team. The Jets are the only team not to win a Superbowl since the merger so of course we are loyal to say the least.
    This need more information.

Yes the chant started at Shea stadium and one of the originals took the chant to the Meadowlands in section 320 row 10 seat 1. His name is Donnie Sheafer (NYPD retired). Helmet head started in the lower section after this. Donnie tried hard to keep it going, but once the Jets started paying for helmet heads tickets and putting him on the big screen Donnie was done. Remember he got a good portion of the stadium going without the help of the Jets.

You want to know how inside the Pats fans' heads this win got? There's an 8 page thread on Patsfans about Woody giving the gameball to Fireman Ed.

My tickets used to be in 326 and we had a guy in the end zone in a Klecko Jersey who would get the chant going for us.

Maybe i was in 316? Damn, it's been years. I was sunny side right where the seats started to turn towards the end zone.

I have never seen such a bunch of wannt ass bitches. If you don't like it get out there and make a name for yourself. The guy has made a name for him self by standing out.

You guys are missing the point of the game ball anyway. It is about showing respect to the fans, and how they showed up to help out. ALLLLLLLLLLL, on here were talking about how they have never heard how loud it was. NEVER.

Face it, Fireman Ed is associated with team through the media. If you don't like get out there and make a name for yourself.

    Fucking cry babies.

Fans get jealous of other fans who get attention. That's the way it is with Fireman Ed and I saw it with Devil fans hating on Baumann (the guy who started the D-E-V-I-L-S chants).

What am I missing regarding Ed? Is he some douchebag in real life or something? I always enjoyed his little gimmick.. as far as him getting the game ball, shit, didnt they fly him out the Denver for the AFC championship game in 98?

All that did was get people to still talk about the game. Fuck the Pats, let them eat shit for once. I'm loving it.

I got the best gift of all from the Jets - a win last Sunday. Now Im getting greedy and want more.

    /Rant

I thought Rex said the game ball was going into the trophy case. I guess he later realized, they don't have a trophy case.
