Because if anyone, ever, hits the FA market, is on the trading block, or someday may leave his team, its obviously Jets news. Right?
The main reason is because the team could still use help at wideout. The Jets are 2-0 despite mediocre play from Stuckey and no one other than Stuckey and Cotch having caught a single pass at wideout. I love these predictions that more will come from the bench. So far? Not so much. Why is that going to change? Obviously I am not predicting that catchless stat will remain all season, but there's a reason no one else has caught a ball yet.
What? I thought our wideouts have done quite well. Its not all about stats. We haven't passed a whole hell of a lot yet anyway. Only threw 22 passes the last game. Any why does everyone think that Crabtree is automatically going to be a great WR in the NFL? He's completely unproven, while we have WRs on our team that have played well.
Probably because he was the consensus best WR in the 2009 draft. Don't really want his diva attitude, but seems like he's the missing piece. Stuckey hasn't been bad, just not great. He would make an excellent #3 along with Crab, a true #1, and Cotch, the perfect #2. A pipe dream I know, and again the attitude scares me, but its a nice daydream.
I'd rather see the Jets draft/sign a proven WR than spend a huge pile of cash on a spread offense WR with a bad foot and a worse attitude.
Is he really a diva with a bad attitude? I've seen reports that say otherwise. The first time I heard that report was from Mangini's camp, and you can't believe what you hear during the draft. It doeesnt take much to realize that he has a promise from another team that if he can get traded he will get paid. And if he sits out until next season, will they still slot picks if its an uncapped year? None of us really agree with the strategy, this a risky game his agent is playing. I don't think Crabtree is a bad fit. We definitely could use his skills and the team will keep him in check.
Is that a serious question? The dude refuses to play football until he gets paid more than he deserves. That's the absolute definition of a diva with a bad attitude.
Here's the thing. He's property of the Niners until next year, at which point they can give up on him and allow him to re-enter the draft, where it's pretty hard to believe at this point that we'll have a chance to pick him. So why discuss him? We need a big time WR. I'm not questioning that. I'm simply questioning why specifically Crabtree? He's got about the same chances of wearing Green and White next season as I do.
i agree with the OP 100%. i was scared when i heard the report they might be interested, lets hope it isn't true. crabtree is going to be a bust, and even if he's not, so what? we will be able to find great receivers. the last thing the jets need is another keyshawn on the team.
I would cut out a fellow Jets fan's heart, chant a dark prayer to the devil, and eat said heart at Gate D if it meant I could have another Keyshawn Johnson.
then you would do very horrible things for very little return. in other words you work cheap. "dirty deeds done dirt cheap" that's you apparently. keyshawn was an average receiver and everyone knows it except for the hypnotized.
The people saying the Jets will never sign/trade for/draft Crabtree are right. What better way to prove they did tamper with him then to go out and get him. Won't happen.

Keyshawn was one of the best WR going across the middle I have ever seen. He catches EVERY single ball regardless of how hard he got hit and was an awesome red zone threat. To say we was underutilized in the red zone would be a huge understatement. 6'4" 220 with awesome hands and leaping ability i screamed everytime we kicked a FG inside the 20 when he didn't see a pass his way running a fade route. Put it like this Keyshawn>>>>>>>>>>>Cotchery. He wasn't a superstar WR due to the fact he wasn't a deep threat at all, but he had EVERY SINGLE other attribute you can ask for in a wideout. He was a top 15 WR in the NFL during his playing days if not top 10.
I also am not saying the Jets should necessarily pick HIM up. It's just that there are always so many posts on these wideout threads that really are not about the candidate in question but disputing the need for making a move of any sort. You have to sort those posts disputing the need out from those focusing on the candidate in question.
