Collins is a statue, back there. His three step drop takes as long as anyone elses 5 step. I expect high sack numbers this Sunday. Their WRs are a weak bunch that our DBs will have no problem with whatsoever. Johnson is a beast as previously stated, and I expect that he'll end up breaking a long TD run on a blitz as our D gives up its first TD this season. As far as our offense against their D, I expect a balanced attack that puts up 24+ points. As they MAY score 13, this should be another chalk mark in the W column.
It's not like we don't have recent history against them and we have gotten better and they have gotten worse...
This is true, but this Titans team does not fear me at all, and I don't think it fears our Jets either. We clearly will be pressuring Collins to no end, and like GreenMachine said, their WR/TE group are far from threatening. There threat is Johnson, and I'm hoping we will have no problem containing him.
Simple blueprint, same as last season: Stop Chris Johnson = Stop Tennessee = Win the game by double digits. We will do this and we will be 3-0 heading into New Orleans in a battle of the undefeated's. Plus, we all know how Kerry Collins LOVES his racial slurs, so hopefully Bart Scott clocks him in the fucking mouth.
lets not get too optimistic about this game...this game has a feeling of the broncos game last year...we came off 2 big wins the last one being in tennessee but then we got mauled by the supposed "messed up" broncos..that said, if we play like we did against NE there is no doubt we should be 3-0
NO. I refuse to buy into that. We have had complacent teams and coaches since Parcells left. Plus, this team is not relying on an old, injured QB. The D is the key.
This will be Kevin Mawae's first visit back to the Meadowlands since leaving prior to the 2006 season.
Wow ! This is a game that we should take very seriously. The titans played very well two games in row and came up short. Yes; they had some miscues and their defense allowed plenty of scoring , but we have to play near perfect football to beat these guys. Id love for the defense to do some scoring and feature the running game for some big gains so Sanchez doesnt feel he needs to win this on his arm. That's whats coming next week!
Everyone will be up for the Jets now, no one will take them lightly, might as well call the meadowlands The Roman Coliseum because every game will be a gladiator match!!! This is the kind of football I have been waiting to see!!! WWWOOOOHHHH!!!!
I would feel more comfortable if Harris, and Scott played OLB this week. I feel more confident with them being able contain the edge. There is more room for error with Gholston and Thomas playing MLB whenyou have big Jenk plugging up the middle anyway.
I'm not sure why the Titans team would fear you. Their WR/TE group appears awfully weak, but then you consider the fact that Kerry Collins was able to throw for 250 yards against a very good Pittsburgh defense in week 1. They managed to shut down the run game for the most part, but Collins was able to take advantage. Granted, Polamalu was hurt in the game, but it's still important to note that they have receivers who are able to get open quickly in the short game when Collins comes under pressure. We'll need to keep throwing everything at Collins to rattle his timing completely, but they're likely to sustain a couple of medium drives in the process.
My biggest fear this week is that our squad "plays down" against the Titans after coming off two big wins. I don't think Rex is going to let that happen, but never the less I am a long time Jets fan and as such I have become conditioned to not expect too much if I don't want to be let down. Our boys have got to keep the 110% intensity up, and we as fans have to do the same. EVERY WEEK.
No matter what, it is part of human nature for the players to be slightly overconfident for this game. Do you think the players and coaches will have the same excitement and anticipation as compared to the patriots game? no and that's a fact. This is when we will see how good our team is. If we can beat teams in an almost business like approach without all the hype and "must win" talk. As far as I'm concerned the less respect this Jets team and its individual players such as Revis gets, the better. It's a great motivating factor to prove all the naysayers wrong and to play with a chip on your shoulder. I do however believe that this team is more prepared than last year's team after we were 8-3. We have more leaders in the locker room such as Scott and Jones. Scott was talking earlier on the dan patrick show about how there's no trophies for being 2-0 and that the season is a marathon. That's really great to hear, and I hope he and the rest of the leaders on the team make sure that they let everyone know that they haven't achieved a single darn thing yet.
With all honesty and yes this is my first post on here but I am no scrub when it comes to football. I see this as a blowout for the Jets, unless Colins and Britt and Johnson go on a supreme tear. Jets defense is way to solid, I can't even imagine what we will look like when we get Calvin Pace back possibly the best defender we got. Jets will dominate this game 20-9
I totally...TOTALLY agree with this. This game has no feel of the Bronco game last year. The only things that match are wins against 2 quality teams in a row. What doesnt match is that no one here was surprised to see Cutler tear this team apart. Manginis style of sending blitzing cb's, lb's or a safety from 20 yards away...one at a time...had been chewed up and spit out before by many a good qb during his reign with the Jets. Every single position is rushing the qb much better then at any point last year. What Cutler did to us was no shock. The real shock of that game was our inability on offense to match the Broncos who had a poor, undersized defense coming into that game. We all had a feeling that Cutler could have a good game. That game was a defensive/offensive nightmare...something I doubt we will ever see with this team.
At first I think of a team that was 13-3 last year and I am worried. I think about Jeff Fisher and I worry because he has been one of the top five coaches in the league for a DECADE. But then I think about Jenx OWNING Mawae last year and Collins being a sitting duck back there and how the Ravens literally beat Chris Johnson out of the game and Jim Schwartz and Haynesworth being gone and I'm not worried. Still, in the back of my head, I think this is going to be even tougher than last week, which was pretty freaking tough. BUT, unlike all previous years, I'm excited.
I watched parts of that Tenn / HOU game... For 1 the one Chris Johnson TD was a complete breakdown when he was uncovered. Another Run TD was on 3rd and long... Mawae broke out and he could have been called for a hold.... Looks like a lot of finesse to me... I say take Jenkins and let him sit on Mawae every play... Make it an easy day, just flatten Mawae till he cries and see what the rest of TENN can do without their Center pulling, going downfield and Holding people all day. I also think the Jets are faster to the outside than what HOU showed.... I think we matchup well VS this team.
