Actually, this is the same exact system run under Linehan when he put up 2004's numbers. Saban has already publicly stated that the offense will not change - all the terminology will stay the same, hence Saban's strong desire for him. This signing is much bigger for the Fins than how he'll do against you guys. We play the Jets twice a year - there are 14 other games we have to play. To be frankly honest, if the Fins are in fact a strong playoff team next season the Jets are the least of my worries. His mobility I'm sure will be hindered, and yes that was one of his biggest strengths. While nobody has ever accused Culpepper of great Accuracy - it's pretty damn good. He also has a cannon for an arm and is being paired up with one of the best Deep threat WR's in the league. There shouldn't be a reason he can't stand back in the pocket and hit Ricky, Ronnie, McMike, Chambers, and Booker. Shouldn't be.
Pete Prisco says Dolphins SB contenders. Not that I have a great deal of respect for his opinion, but it always seems as if he has a personal problem with Saban and the Dolphins - so it's nice to see something positive written by him. http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/9308043
Don't think your quite keyed in on the current situation in Miami. As stated above we ran last year, and will run this year, the exact same offense that Culpepper excelled in for 3 straight years. And I'm not sure how Nick Saban agrees with you, considering we evaluated Brees with our own doctor and then decided to trade for Culpepper leaving Brees running to the Saints offer.
Great post Winston. Many aren't realizing that Culpepper is extremely talented and being reunited with an offensive system that made him arguably the Most productive QB in NFL history. Miami has all the pieces around him to ensure success, everything is hinging on his health.
Countdown to Junc's announcment that this might be the greatest day in Jet's History. The Fins getting the most overrated player the NFL has ever seen insures that they will be horrible for years. I'll have to bookmark this one.
Oh blessed ignorance. You might want to do a fact check. Culpeppers best numbers came when Moss was hurt or on the bench.
Agreed, Chambers had a great season even with Frerrotte throwing to him, and he made it to the Pro-bowl! Now just imagine with Daunte!!
They would be much better. Culppeper never came back from the injury and Brees recovered and kept getting better. I still don't trust Brees in a big game outdoors.
if miami got brees he'd have been out of the league by now miami has no offensive playmakers ginn is fast but he cant catch or run routes properly brown is good but he struggles because he doesnt get a consistent workload ricky williams ceased being good once he kicked the weed habit you could put joe montana in the dolphins system right now and he would struggle because there is no one on the team who is a playmaker
and thank god he was! LOL i love this thread...culpepper hahahaha that worked out well...whatever happened to that guy breeze btw?
He's had top notch performances on the road. He was good enough in the '06 NFC title game. He's been good in the playoffs. If you want to consider Dallas an outdoor team, Brees ripped them apart in 2006 down the stretch of that season. He had a huge game at Seattle a couple years ago. He didn't have a good statistical game at the Giants in '06, but the Saints didn't need him to that day. There's not really much in his past that should make one think Brees would not show up for a road game at the Giants or Eagles or Bears or Packers this year. Anywhere else he'd have to play at in the NFC playoffs would be decent weather or a domed venue.
I wish a thread w/ my comments was bumped back up. I got roasted on here for saying how happy I was that Miami got the overrated Daunte Culpepper.
