The Jets Defense held Matt Schaub to 18/33 166yds0TD 1INT 2Sacks QB rating of 55.9, Andre Johnson to 4 catches 35yds 0 TDs Steve Slaton to 9rush 17yds 0TDs The Titans Defense allowed Matt Schaub 25/39 357yds 4TD 0INT Andre Johnson 10 catches 149 yds 2TDs Steve Slaton 17 for 34 Wondering how everyone feels about this. Is our defense just that much better or is tennesses a dissapointment?
i'm not sure yet. maybe the texans made a lot of changes after getting beat up by us in week one. give it 4 more weeks and we should have a good idea of how much of it is the defense.
We're definitely going to find out the truth when our offense is on the field on Sunday. I didn't see the Texans game yesterday, so I can't really make any analysis either way.
i think a little bit of both. titans defense isnt as good as everyone thought it would be. also you have to figure texans game planed a lot better because of the bad performance they had against he jets. on the other hand we are a very good defense and we did hold tom brady without a touchdown pass.
Tennessee is at home and staring 0-3 squarely in the face. They will be very up for this weekend. We will have to go down there and earn our victory; we need to come out just as pumped up as we have been. I do like our chances.
Our defense is that good. Just look at yesterday. Okay, Welker wasn't playing, but Moss and Brady were on the field and we made them look average... couldn't even score one TD yesterday. This Sunday should be very interesting and add a lot more to your comparisons. You should run the same breakdowns after we kick their ass and stand at 3-0.
Tenneessee has a Jekyll and Hyde attitude about them, and I truly feel the loss of haynesworth is killing them in terms of collapsing the pocket. No one blitzes like the Ravens and Jets do after two weeks in the season.
Tennessee needs to come into our madhouse stadium staring 0-3 in the face. I thought Tennessee was going to take a major step back this year and that looks to be the case.
The Jets' defense did the most important thing they needed to do yesterday - they limited the effectiveness of vaunted Jet-killer Kevin Faulk. He was near-invisible.
I loved how they put Scott and Thomas on him out wide man to man and he was taken out of the play. Belichick was trying some pretty inventive stuff, but Ryan clearly was prepared for those kinds of formations and still made an impact. That's coaching at its finest. Its nice to see that from a Jet coach - being good at their job.
I do too. This defense is a wrecking crew and they're doing it without Pace. Wait until he's back and we can rotate more players. I was worried yesterday when the DEF was on the field so much... and I thought, "Man, are these guys going to run out of gas in the 4th quarter and "not finish" the way the Bills did?" Then it seemed like they played with even more intensity in the 2nd half. Of course, Sanchez' play in the 2nd half helped keep our OFF on the field more, but the DEF still played with the same ferocity as the 1st half and this is without Pace. The one thing that stood out about yesterday's game is how the DEF played so well for a full 60 minutes so yeah, I do like our chances on Sunday.
it's Tennessee's run game and their front 7 that need to be neutralized.....the Jets do that....and we should get a win. The Texans burned the Titan's secondary all game....... Scaife is out with an injury....which leaves Gage & Britt.....one of them will be shutdown by Revis Christ (praise be to him).....which leaves one to be covered....and hopefully NOT by Drew Coleman. EDIT: I hope Strickland's injury isn't serious....he was impressive yesterday....great tackler.
My bad, thought the Jets were going to Tennessee. Well, I think we showed last weekend what fans going crazy in a stadium can do to another team. Granted, we played hard, but the noise was a disadvantage for the Brady crew.
I was concerned about the 2nd half. I thought two things might happen: our DEF might have a letdown (didn't happen) and I thought BillyChick would come out with a whole different look (didn't happen). At the end of the game BillyChick did say that "We were outplayed AND OUTCOACHED" and he was right. The Pats had no answer for the amount of intensity and physicality our DEF brought to the table. And when Ryen (or Schotty, or both) decided to unleash Sanchez and let him start slinging it around, I think BillyChick wasn't prepared for that. He honestly was not prepared to see a rookie like Sanchez start carving up his secondary and he had no answer. His current DEF is a mere shadow of what it was only a year ago and no amount of caching adjustments is going to make up for that.
the only thing that worries me is if we get caught on a good playcall on the titans half where we overload one side and chris johnson breaks outside in the open field. i think we can make their WR's obsolete. i remember when they played the ravens he had well over 100 yds rushing on the ravens in the first half. he was then hit hard and taken out of the game. a reporter asked rex ryan "you usually dont even allow 100 yd rushers in a whole game. did it surprise you that chris johnson ran so well in the first half?" his reply was something to the effect of "how many yards did he have in the second half? cause i dont think he even finished the game" lol we'll see. i know this is in the back of rex's mind come today
If anyone thinks Kerry Collins is going to fare well against that type of pressure they are crazy. Everyone knows he is turnover prone when defenses are in his face and swatting at the ball. Look for more of the same and not 1, but 2 TD's on defense next week.
i hope he plays a balanced defense relying on stopping one man. the rest of that offense doesn't work if Johnson isn't running all over the place.
exactly, and i have full confidence in our ability to neutralize the titans passing game. especially with Scaife out. the trick to beating the titans is beating chris johnson, and not turning the ball over. i like how weve run in the 1st half simply to set up the pass in the second half the first two weeks. i hope this plan continues unless they feel they can come out the gate and pound it late.
This defense is going to be absolutely disgusting when Pace comes back. If everyone can stay healthy it will be a superbowl caliber defense.
