Vern is playing his way out of NY. Perhaps he's one of those guys that can't play in the TriState area. Too much pressure, etc. At any rate, if he couldn't show up for the New England game? then he really just needs to stay on ST's, play out his rookie contract, and move on. This was perhaps the most important game in the new VonRyan era and the perfect setting for Vern's coming out party. Too bad it didn't happen.
I think the main reason we didn't see him is thanks to the Pats spreading it out all the time we were practically either in nickel or dime all game.
I want to see Clowney get the ball more. Gholston was in there not fighting through blocks and standing beside the pile when he could have helped on the tackle.
I'm looking at the box scores on Sports Illustrated, and Gholston's name is absent. I don't remember hearing his name or seeing him during the game. However, the defense did awesome, so obviously he is not a liability. If he's not getting it done, it looks like we've got other guys that are. Maybe next week he'll show up in the box scores. He did last week, anyway.
TWO things: 1) The Pats ran a ton of 3/4/5 WR sets and he was not on the field nearly as often as he was last week (at least that was my initial impression, someone correct me if I am mistaken) 2) This defense could be really fun if Pace comes back and plays to up to his ability.
if I say something about Gholston being a terrible player, will someone call me a "hater"? looking forward to it.
Yeah, that's the reason. That's why Gholston and my sister weren't on the field. Because of the spread sets.
LOL, imagine how good are Defense could be if ghost played as good as he looked coming out of college, we would be 1 overall easily.
Ghost will be cut? In your dreams, maybe. He will, like someone else stated, play out his rookie contract. If he hasn't shown one modicum of improvement, the Jets simply don't re-sign him. It's as simple as that.
