http://www.nfl.com/partner?partnerType=rookies Voters on NFL.com have made their choice. Quarterback Mark Sanchez of the New York Jets is the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week for games played on September 10-14, the NFL announced today. Sanchez recorded the third most passing yards in NFL history for a rookie in Week One with 272 yards. He completed 18 of 31 passes with one touchdown and one interception for a passer rating of 84.3 in the Jets' 24-7 win over the Houston Texans. Sanchez led a Jets offense that gained a total 462 yards and controlled the ball for nearly 39 minutes. Sanchez was selected from among five finalists through fan votes on NFL.com/rookies. The other finalists were wide receiver Kenny Britt of the Tennessee Titans, wide receiver Percy Harvin of the Minnesota Vikings, wide receiver Louis Murphy of the Oakland Raiders and tackle Michael Oher of the Baltimore Ravens. After the regular season, five players will be nominated for Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year honors. Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com/rookies throughout the month of January. This should get him even more pumped for this weekend. If he can just stay focused and poised for the entire game I would like him to try and get the couple of stupid throws down to zero if he can. I sure hope Lito doesn't decide to dance with every WR on the team cause this may cost us the game. He did good last week, but I sure don't want to see what I saw in pre-season come back. There is only one penalty that would be easy to swallow and it would be because somebody knocked Brady's block off a little late.
Props to the dude (I think Mezz) who created that thread a few days ago. Everytime it made the top of the thread list, I voted. I probably voted for Sanchez some 8 times or so. Good job to everyone who voted. Let's hope he's nominated again next week.
Fuck yeah........ lets get him the majority of the weekly wins - but he has to get himself nominated first.
I want Sanchez to win 11 of these Offensive rookie of the week honors!!! That pretty much automatically wins him the OROY award as well. Time for Sanchez to get his rear in gear, and play some unstoppable football!
Very well deserved. A great ambassador for the Jets and for football in general. Love this kids hunger for the game, if I think of him, he always has a huge smile on his face.
I would like to see him share the OROW love with Shonn (of course once he is active!) I would like to see Sanchez start challenging OPOY not just OROY
