Jets 24 Texans 7. First, congrats to Mark Sanchez and Rex Ryan . I was looking forward more to seeing how our defense would play, (which was straight dominant), more than Sanchez. Sanchez over impressed me, and in no way is that depressing. Great debut (besides the interception, of course) for our franchise QB. - Cotchery + YAC was great tonight. - Who needs the Wild Cat when you can call it the Seminole Offense!? - If I hear one more "Cut/Trade Thomas Jones"... Look. Texans stuffed our run game today, but T. Jones still wound up breaking some runs (39 yard run for a TD) and still came close to 100 yards on the day. Now, let's get even more pumped for our home opener against the Patriots next week.
Excitement abounds! Lots of reasons to feel good. Loved the play calling! Still need to step up the run game!
This was an impressive win, to be sure. I don't mean to be negative, but until the day comes when we look this good against Pittsburgh, Tennessee, New England, Baltimore or even Dallas or the Giants, I won't take this as anything but a victory against a weak NFL team. Enjoy this win. The first real test comes next week.
The team played great. Defense looked really solid against a very explosive offense (Slaton and Johnson are two big-time studs). Sanchez looked very good and was a GREAT opening effort for him. The only negatives I really saw were too many penalties and lack of a consistent running game. But besides that, we were missing Pace and Ellis and still had a dominating defense? Incredible.
Agreed man, Great job by sanchez and our D was great. T.J. was good he weathered the storm for most of the game and then when the 4th came and we needed to shut them out he came through with 2 big runs and one that was the dagger.
Can I use this thread to comment on how awful the Houston fans in the stadium were? They were booing 5 minutes into the second quarter of the first game of the season! And of course the double barrelled single finger salute Jones got on his second TD was very classy. Oh, the game? Other than the one rookie mistake on the INT, was there anything to complain about? (Okay, the dumb false starts also.) Even the run blocking picked up in the 4th quarter as the Houston defense wore down.
And really, only ONE mistake by the rookie? Un-real! I figured we would see a few. The kid really is poised and kudos to Shotty for playing so aggressive!!!
Jets fans aren't booing that early in the second quarter because they're still in the parking lots, right?
After just listening to Bart Scott speak at the podium, he's becoming one of my favorites. Seems like a classy guy, yet he'll let you know when and if he is going to hit you, and hit you hard.
Kris Jenkins was on SNY before, and said how Ryan was crying in the locker room after the win. The emotion of this team is amazing.
I am ver impressed with the all around play of this team today. I didn't know what to expect, but i certainly did not expect Sanchez to play as well as he did. It has also been a long time since we've seen aJets D get at the QB like that! Well done!
