That was Sanchez's best throw of the game in my opinion. He did everything right on that play: he saw his hot read had a little separation, stepped up and drilled the throw right on target with perfect timing. Just a second early or late and that would've been incomplete, he played it perfectly though. The reason that I love the touchdown to Stuckey is that it's such a difference from what we saw in Baltimore. Last week when he got rushed he would force a throw (and it cost him a pick, should've been 2.) Last night he bought some time, kept his eyes downfield and made a heckuva running throw. I'm really excited about what this guy can do once he gets used to the NFL.
Clemens or Pennington would have been sacked in that situation. The kid felt the blitz took off, but instead of watching the blue jersey's about to rip him a new one, he kept his eyes on the open receiver and heaved it. This kids poise and instincts are far beyond any QB we've had in a while.
Haha, you beat me to it. Sanchez made the kind of play you see Roethlisberger make in critical situations in games where the season is on the line. Terrible response by Klecko.
If you have been watching the NY Jets for 20 years then you should know better. Your getting hung up on the specific play, and I already conceded it was a good play, the right read, mobility, etc. Is that clear now? (I also understand the thread is about the play but that wasn't my whole point) My point is I don't expect great things from the Jets. Until they show me something until they give me a reason. When they were 8-3 last year I started believing and when it all collapsed I was like, I knew this was going to happen, this is the Jets. So I am saying, when it counts in the regular season or post season usually things don't go the Jets way. And if you've been watching 20 years you know I am right. Somebody guaranteed a SB from Sanchez in this thread, somebody said we have seen the future and it's Sanchez all that BS. It's just far fetched at this point given the team's history. Don't tell me how bad my post is and how unrealistic I am, and how I backpeddled. We disagree, period. That play was obviously not as encouraging to me as it was to you. I'm not getting as excited about it as you are. My opinion is the Jets will struggle this year. You disagree with that? Then fine, you're entitled to your opinion.
totally agree... why the f does that play happen any differently in the regular season... didn't both teams play their starters into the 3rd qtr???
That play doesn't happen in the regular season because THIS IS THE JETS!! Haven't I made that clear now? I think they will struggle this year and so will Sanchez. I'm not talking about that same exact kind of play evolving again that exact way during the regular season. I am just not as encouraged and as excited about it as you guys are, period.
^ So now you're subject to magical thinking and pessimism... Good thing you weren't a Red Sox fan in '04; you would've never stuck around for the rest of the series.
What you're saying about this play makes absolutely no sense and everyone here is proving you wrong. Just be happy when something actually goes right. Nobody here is saying that the Jets are going to the superbowl but after watching Sanchez last night everyone else is excited cause it looks like the Jets might have finally found that qb they've been looking for. I'm not saying he's the next Joe Namath but atleast give him a chance rather than shutting down everything he does and saying its luck. I bet the bills are looking for some new fans, maybe you should check them out.
I'm definitely subject to pessimism! I admitted that. Probably not the healthiest thing, but, I will never give up on them. I just can't pretend and be all joyful about the upcoming season, because I honestly think they will struggle. If I am wrong, then we will all be happy!
yet another dumb post. Why would Stuckey not be open in the reg season? Would defense gain three extra speed points? Omaybe ur saying it cuz u think the D will toughen up in regular season. Maybe the WRs n QBs will also become quicker according to the same reasoning ur providing, no? That's BS. We see such a play after some time n diss it. Appreciate it. It was an awesome play by Sanchez n Stuckey. I see good things coming our way this season.
There is no proving wrong. This is all opinion and conjecture. We are all entitled to our opinion. I am giving him a chance, I hope he does well, I am just not going to guarantee that he will win a Super Bowl for the Jets right now as some other folks have.
It's not a dumb post, and yours isn't either. Where we differ is you see good things coming our way and I don't. We disagree, it's not a big deal. I don't appreciate right now as you do and I don't have to. 5 or 10 years ago I was always optimistic and right now I am just not. I am sure I will come back around, but not right now.
Hey, i didnt see the game, just the highlites, and that was a great throw, preseason, or regular season, the outcome is good. I love what i saw...i aint into predictions.........and i've lived ALL THE LETDOWNS.....ALL THE FUCKING MISERY.......Tell ya what fellas, i have big hopes this year, thats all im sayin, the jetD...........my name by the way.......will win us lots of games this season, and we will make the playoffs.....from there its a crap shooot..............Peace
Later in the game the announcers did make a comment about how Sanchez looked past the rush and kept his eyes downfield. I believe they said you usually dont see rookies doing that, thats a vet move....I would take that as a compliment. No such praise to Stuckey as you pointed out ......its all about the blown coverage.....
I'm still convinced it takes him 4 or 5 weeks at least to settle in during the regular season. If we're lucky he'll sneak us into the wild card and lose that weekend when he sees how much faster the playoffs are compared to the regular season, after barely adjusting from college. The easy prediction is we make the playoffs within 3 years with Sanchez at the helm. This year is such a fucking toss up. Half of me sees him leading us to a wild card, the realistic half thinks we're gonna win between 6 and 8 but be awesome until the playoffs next year.
great play, I'm so stoked for what may be this season. two long work weeks between now and the best 5 months of the year.
