There will undoubtedly be times where Sanchez looks like turds this year, but he has the tools to be something special. Throws like this can be the difference between winning and losing against great defenses in big games. Before you "it's only preseason" nazi's jump all over me, I understand it's a preseason game. The point is the throw he made while running backwards and sideways with 3 rabid d-linemen about to kill him is something not many guys can do. I understand why he's the starter. Viva La Sanchez! :metal:
Not to mention props to Stuckey for juking three defenders out of their cleats. Having watched our QBs this preseason, I'm really glad the Jets traded up for Sanchez. When you consider who we gave up to acquire him, those 3 guys and the draft pick are like a bag of peanuts compared to what we got out of the deal. Sanchez is the future and it's a bright one... for him AND the Jets.
In the regular season that would have been an interception and maybe even a pick six. I didn't see it live, I heard about a 31-yard TD and got excited. Then later I see the highlight and I am like typical Jets. Why is he running for his life like that? Where is the protection from "one of the best O-lines in the league"? Keller's blocking is pathetic. That wasn't the only play he was running for his life, same thing with the other 30 yard completion. I like his mobility though.
Yes, why aren't the Jets perfect? After all, there are 31 other teams in the league that are perfect on every play on every down, and don't require improvisation to make something big happen. We're going 0-16 for the next 30 years for sure.
? Stuckey was WIDE open. If he wasn't Sanchez is either (hopefully) throwing the ball away or taking the sack.
Please explain how the hell that would have been an INT in the regular season??? What happens in the regular season, do DB's gain superpowers that allow them to shift into position to pick the ball off? Dumb post.
Would there have magically been another giants defender in the game if it was regular season? Stuckey got open and Sanchez made a nice throw on the run, give him some credit.
That was a big time play. The Giants had 8 men at the line of scrimmage applying pressure including a DB sitting on the outlet on the right side. Sanchez had about a second and a half to realize that the deep sideline would be open and he did and made the throw. He threw the ball without being set and moving backwards in fact and he still put it a good 35 yards in the air with accuracy. That was a helluva play.
Gotta love those dumbass Giants announcers talking about how Dockery blew the coverage rather than the amazing plays made by Sanchez and Stuckey
Calm down. You guys have not been watching this team long enough. I was being to general for you guys apparently. Sorry to be specific, during the regular season, Stuckey probably won't be that open and Sanchez is a rookie, yes a rookie, not Joe Montana yet and he is going to make mistakes. Hopefully he throws it away. Yes, given how open he was, it was a great play and it was encouraging. Are you happy? You guys just aren't that realistic. You probably think they are going to the playoffs this year for sure too don't you??? I hope you are right.
The Giants had 8 men coming on that play. Stuckey would likely be wide open in that situation in the regular season also. Most QB's can't get that ball off with the kind of accuracy Sanchez displayed while moving backwards.
All I have to say is if I never saw the play (I did) and Br4dw4y5ux thought it was a good play then I can conclude it has to be an all world play. I have no doubt about that conclusion all day and everyday.
Why would he not be open in the regular season? You're not making any sense at all. The only point I'm trying to make is that that was a big time throw. The level of difficulty was through the roof and he perfectly located the pass. I'm sorry if you can't see that.
In the regular season all our opponents DBs get to play with inspector gadget arms, clearly that would have been a pick six if it was the regular season. Hopefully Sanchez and the coaching staff are smart enough to realize this and run every play.
Willie, You want to see another great throw, check out his throw to Cotch in the second half. Man that was a laser placed perfectly into a spot where 1.) Cotchery was covered well and 2.) only Cotch could get it. In fact I was as encouraged by that throw as the TD because that is a throw we are more than likely going to see for a decade rather then a one off crazy play. We haven't had a QB that can make a throw like that consistently since before Chad got hurt. If he can stop staring at the WR ........... dare to dream.
You didn't know this? The only difference in a regular season game would have been a much more fiery celebration from Sanchez/Stuckey/Ryan. That and the announcers wouldn't have been so anti-climatic. Sanchez is the man.
