http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2009/08/ny_jets_coach_rex_ryan_could_n.html It sounds like all Dirty needs to do is play well against the Ravens and the job is his. Let's see who steps up.
I wonder what will be considered good when you make your first start (ever) vs. one of the best defenses in the league with possibly 3 of your 5 o-lineman out?
I don't understand this.. Clemens had more snaps but they both only had 4 passing plays called and Clemens' were all dinks and dunks. You'd think a QB competition would ask a little more out of the competitors and actually give them a chance to distinguish themselves. Hopefully we'll see that Monday I guess.
Clemens had 6 passing plays called. One he was sacked and fumbled and on another he dodged a sack and ran for a couple.
If Sanchez doesn't play like absolute dog shit and Clemens doesn't look like Joe Montana out there, the job is Sanchez's.
That is what everyone is saying. I think they both will be okay against the defense since they practice against a similar one. The worry I have is with the Oline. Will Sanchez get any protection? If the Ravens get too much pressure on Sanchez he won't be in very long.
I wonder what the excuse would be if Sanchez gets crushed on a blindside blitz and is out for an extended period..
What do we do if neither play good but Clemens plays worse, Sanchez wins the job and plays like crap against the Giants. I am concerned that we don't have one good QB
We all have that concern, but with all things equal then Sanchez gets the job. We will be paying him 50 million dollars over the next 5 years and Clemens will be long gone.
there isn't much of an excuse when the 4 year QB can't separate himself from the rookie with 16 starts in college.
Thats the very scary point for Clemens. Everyone points to how long he's been in the system, but Clemens is the one throwing more picks in camp and only looked good, not great in the first preseason game. Ryan said "obviously, you're taking the body of work. It won't be just through one game". If that pick count in camp is accurate thats not a good sign for him. He neds to come up with a big game Monday.
oh wow, this would be awesome for the starter. permanent 1st team reps, gearing up, ready to go. fuck im excited.
I don't think you have any more clue than I do what your avatar would give it up for, but I can dream. And the dream has nothing to do with Sanchez. As for guessing here, I think the Ravens will make both QB's look horrible. They will make the Jets offense look awful. Cimini will have a field day projecting a 3 win season. Mangold may be out, we could be missing more than half the O line again. I think they should trot out Brad Smith to start at QB. If he gets killed, while sad, we would still have a QB battle to talk about. Then trot Ainge out there. This is like sending Clemens and Sanchez out to clear a mine field with no metal detectors. One of 'em is gonna get blown up.... maybe both of them.
Yep. You don't trade 2 draft picks and 3 players and then give the man $50 million to ride the pine. Sanchez will start.
