I don't see Ainge taking the spot either way.

I wouldn't mind resigning Clemens to be a backup if the price is right

4 for 4 for a meager what, 24 yard? Very Pennington-esque, if you ask me. And this man didn't even have his rotator cuff injury either. Now that's what I call "Impressive"

Or are you really trying to tell me St. Louis defense was that much ferocious that Clemens had to run for his life, looking for the safety option? If that's the case, then how come Sanchez could march down the field with a relative ease?

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Now that I think of it, Clemens has learned one thing from Pennington - that is, dink and dunk when passing. Now he's ready for DDDP offense (Dink/Dunk/Draw/Punt)

^ Pretty sure those were designed plays so take it out on Schotty.

Ainge made a couple bad throws, but looked good for the most part. Considering it was his first time out playing another team, I think that's good news and I think he has some potential. Ainge wasn't that great though so I'm a little surprised Pizzotti was waved so soon.. I'm assuming he must not have shown much in TC?

Listen to this quote from Ryan

But Ryan didn?t see the entire effort as embarrassing. He liked his first defense?s 0-for-5 shutout of the Rams? third-down offense in the first half. He liked all three of his quarterbacks ? including Erik Ainge, who came in midway through the second quarter and piloted the offense the rest of the way.

"I'm disappointed I couldn't get 'Harvard' in," he said of not playing fourth QB Chris Pizzotti, "but I'd rather win instead."

    Ouch.

They probably cut Pizzotti to see if he can get a spot on another team. If not he'll probably come back to the PS.

Exactly what I was about to post. I think that unlike Raymond this was a bit of a vote of cofidence for Pizzotti in that they are allowing him to see if another team will give him a better opportunity and if not it is likely he winds up on the PS.

Maybe he's giving Pizzotti a slim chance to have a chance somewhere else as a backup. By cutting him, he's free to sign somewhere else as opposed to the Jets holding on to him and then dumping him when everyone else has already rounded at their roster. If he doesn't get picked up somewhere - he'll be back with the practice squad.

Great minds think alike. I was a wee bit late on my thought.

nyjets RL: New P Ken Parrish participated in the pm ST practice. Jets also signed LB Josh Mauga and waived P T.J. Conley and TE J'Nathan Bullock.22 minutes ago from TinyTwitter

Too bad Bullock couldn't cut it, whenever you hear basketball player turned TE you can't help but hope he's the next Gates. He'll likely end up on the PS though ... Rex was explaining how he was a few year project at one of his pressers.
    Harvard.

With 3 offensive linemen out, it's no surprise that Schotty would call a high number of short passing plays, at least off the draw. That Sanchez throw was a pure, quick timing route. It didn't take long to develop. Clemens didn't look impressive, but he did what he had to with what he was given (aside from the fumble). That's what he's always done. The problem is, he was ONLY doing what he had to. He still doesn't really seem to add anything, which is what we're hoping for out of Sanchez.

Yep. I've heard good things about him from his college teammates. Hopefully he'll get an opportunity somewhere, but I'm not worried about the 3rd QB position after Ainge's play on Friday.

I hope both Pizzotti and the punter Conley stay with the team on the practice squad. They both have skills -- Pizzotti is supposed to be very smart on the field and Conley was the best in the NCAA. They just need more time than the other guys.

Rex, please keep them, if you can :)

Agree! Clemens is a goner after this year. Ainge looked ok, but did anyone notice his passes didnt "Flutter" at all? Real tight spirals, and his last ditch effort into the 5 or so yardline was way more then I have ever seen Clemens toss it. It doest matter if Sanchez starts or Clemens,either/or Clemens will be on another team next year. Guy may have not had a real good chance behind a good solid o-line to start and lead in the past, but the past/current "flutter" balls and "happy-dance" Kills it for me with this guy.

    Jets re-sign QB Chris Pizzotti

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP)?The New York Jets have re-signed free agent quarterback Chris Pizzotti.

The move Friday came six days after the Jets waived the undrafted free agent from Harvard. Pizzotti was a two-time All-Ivy League selection who finished his career with 5,675 yards passing, 37 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

Pizzotti gives New York some preseason depth at quarterback, joining Kellen Clemens(notes), Mark Sanchez(notes) and Erik Ainge(notes).
