You said you don't think it's his pitch/innings count, and the reason you gave was because of the "time of the year." I think you reached the right conclusion, but for the wrong reason. But you are suggesting that there's "something going on" with him. As the dude above said, I don't think you read anything into these two games, aside from the possibility that they're trying not to burn out a young arm and are erring on the side of caution.
Jason bay back in LF, hitting 5th. sox called up PawSox closer Fernando Cabrera (the guy who replaced Bard).
Sox were shut out in two consecutive games against the Yankees in 02. The next game went like this http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CLE/CLE200208300.shtml.
Of course, they did that against the Indians, facing Jaret Wright (in his first game back off the DL), Terry Mulholland, and David Riske. If they're going to do that again, they're going to have to do it against (hopefully) a more effective group of pitchers.
I'm trying to watch but my satellite signal is fucked up despite there not being a cloud in the sky................
They also missed the playoffs that year so yeah.... My eyes so far tell me it's probably not gonna be 15 tonight either.
No, though he's one of the few Yankees I like. He doesn't have enough wins, his ERA is near 4, not close to 3,000 Ks, never won a Cy, and even though I don't think it SHOULD matter he has the PED thing and the writers will likely take that into account. He's been a very good #2 guy for his career. Nothing to be ashamed of, but no way is he close to HOF caliber.
