Maybe Ryan and Jenkins have a bet going on of who can be the biggest on the team? It doesn't even look like Ryan can lean forward or he'll tip over. Looks a little top-heavy.
Seriously, ... and I mean this in all candor, ... I'm quite concerned after reviewing picture #5. Everyone needs to look up this picture. Take a good look at what kind of shape the man is in. We're talking obese now... seriously overweight to the point of not being able to function much beyond pushing oneself away from the dinner table to prepare to rest for the next meal. He has to be seriously out of breath after just a brief walk and a real risk for heart attack should the temperatures and humidity reach unbearable limits for people at normal risk. How does this guy hope to whip people into shape while not exhibiting the least bit of concern for his own conditioning? What the hell kind of example is that? People are supposed to look up to him as an example? Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I sure as hell am not in that kind of shape and I'm somewhat older than Rex Ryan. And if I were in his shoes, I sure as hell would have gone on some kind of strict conditioning program this past spring to at least make myself somewhat presentable. Am I the only one who looks at this and says "WTF is wrong with this picture?" As it stands now, he looks absolutely ridiculous in those shorts out there on that practice field. "Get yourselves in shape, fellas! Come on, let's get going!" "Yeah coach. Right away. I'll get right to it."
I don't think it matters past their concern for his health. You never heard players complain about Parcells or Weiss being tubs of lard. They perform for leaders and great football coaches. Herm Edwards could run wind sprints with his guys and he ran the laziest camp we had since Pete Carroll.
Totally Agree!! I read the Jets' management is putting him on a diet. If he continues to gain weight/not lose weight.......he won't be around much longer on this earth, let alone be coach of the the Jets.
I agree with Abyzmul. Who gives a shit what the coach looks like? He's a great leader, knows football, and those are the only things that should matter.
Tanx Petro. Just checked them out. Holy Moley, Ryan needs to lose alot of weight PDQ. The guy at his presser, was beet red in the face. From that profile, he's a coronary waiting to happen on the field. I'm glad the Organization is trying to reign him in and I hope Ryan takes this edict seriously. I'd hate to see him have the big one on the sidelines during a game..
im going up in two weeks to see the jets on the sunday...cant wait...havent seen any live action since 05. very much looking forward to it...a mate gradudated from there and has us on the 50 on the ground...only training but i am still excited. plenty of this saturday night though :drunk::drunk::drunk:
i have had fat coaches in sports throughout my life. when the guy who decides if you get to play or not says it's time to do wind sprints nobody says "your fat coach you do them" it does not matter if the coach is fat, if he is a good coach he will get results. see bill parcells, andy reid, mike holmgren, etc.
training camp Just got home from the am pratice, Kicker Feeley was the only player signing autographs, It was funny cause i told him i seen his tweet on nfl network last night about the qb battle getting icy, and he ask me if he won tweet of the day and i told him yes he did. He seem pretty down to earth guy.
Weeb Ewbank was a fat man too. The Jets need fat people to coach them, they do better. Its the coaches that slim down or are in shape that are the demise of the New York Jets.
Sparano and Belichick ain't exactly skinny either.. With that being said, I think his announcement that he's on a diet should be good news for you guys.. I do have to admit reading his comment about all the Italian restaurants in NYC made me chuckle a little.
I got at the field at 930 and watched the team pratice till about 11, There were only 2 players came over and gave autographs, I wasnt sure who the other player was.
