So for the first morning it looks like Clemens can't throw to save his life, nor can he make good decisions against this defense. Sanchez has made some throws and decent decisions but can't sense the blitz coming.

This could get interesting. It's only the first morning but it's also like they're both at the same starting point, regardless of years in the same O because they're facing a different D than Kellen is accustomed to.
So far Dirty has the lead.

Not that I am rooting for Clemens, but Revis picks off everybody.

    indeed.

But i think Clemens should be under more scrutiny....not just because he's a veteran....but because he's showing the same inconsistencies today, that have plagued him the last 3 years.

True but he threw into double coverage and it was "easily" picked. It also sounded like he missed a ton of passes.

But - it was just the first practice and like I said he did take a while to warm up last season.

Hehe, yeah, it took a while and a few dozen INTs. I'm not really good at sticking to my own advice, though. Give it another few days of INTs and I will be down on him. I am a Jets fan, after all. The QB on the bench is always better.

Yeah I don't think he's ever given any coaching staff any reason to be confident with him, in TC, PS or the RS. When he came in for the those few games in the RS, he could have had the chance to light up some D's merely because there was absolutely no footage of the guy to game plan for. In my opinion, that speaks volumes about the overall outlook of him being a starter. He had a shitty line, so he had an excuse, but I think if he was going to be a starter he would have shown a little more.

I think he's fallen short on every account.

we need to be cognizant of the fact this is only "DAY 1".......but you do raise some valid points.

I'm hoping Clemens raises his game.....the Jets deserve some kind of return on their investment for this guy. But hearing that he's underthrowing, overthrowing receivers...and throwing INTs.....it's becoming a shitty trend. I mean, before Favre arrived last year....Clemens and Penny were competing to see who could throw the most INTs during camp practices.

Yep, Penny didn't start to even pull away until shortly before he was released. Not sure how I interpret that, since Penny had such a good year with the Phins. By any logical assumption that would say Clemens at least could handle being a mediocre starting QB. But you're right, according to all the articles I've read, as a starter he had twice as many INTs as receptions. I hadn't realized it was that grossly disproportionate. I just can't see him being the starter come opening day.

I hate to use this as any barometer, but he even carries himself with a losing mentality, which I'm sure translates to the field. Dirty better pick it up, because I just don't want to see KC under the hood.

^ Actually Penny was winning from the get-go and Clemens was starting to make up ground prior to Favre.

I dunno Willie, I seem to recall a lot of articles saying they both looked like ass. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it was a clusterfuck out there last year.

I think you're right....in fact....i believe it's what spurred the Favre trade in the first place. Mangini got tired of watching both his QB's throwing up bricks.

I haven't even seen Gholston's name mentioned yet. Second season and he's already a bust.

Maybe so, but Pennington was clearly winning the battle from the get go if you believed what the media reported. Don't you guys remember the INT count where Clemens had way more than Penny?

I can't remember....the glow resulting from the "Favre rapture" has clouded most of my TC specific 2008 memories
