They are calling, mailing and e-mailing people on the waitlist offering them the chance to purchase season tickets.

HAD I seen this thread or been listening I would have tried to call in----------I am amazed that no one is giving this topic any ink or airplay! Not the papers and not the airwaves

Because all anyone in this stupid city/area care about this time of year is freakin' Baseball. Its ridiculous so much air time for a sport where everyone cheats.

In about 2 weeks we'll get SOME football talk, but we won't get too much until September and even then we won't hear it dominate the airwaves until November. They'll be talking about the fucking Mets until Halloween.

Although they arn't talking about the Jets PSL's/seats... Sirius NFL radio is the way to go!

I got an email the other day saying it's my chance to purchase 2009 season tickets. Too expensive though, but a great investment.

woody and co failed miserably. they could have just raised ticket prices accordingly without a psl fee and the place would have been sold out weekly.
greed got the better of woody too bad the fans got the best of woody.

Here is a story that was written last week about the ticket situation...but I think a larger publication needs to say something.

Season tickets for Jets and Giants football games have been handed down for generations, leaving a vast majority of fans on the teams? waiting lists unable to buy seats.

    AP FILE PHOTO
Who needs tickets? Jets announce there are seats still available for the new stadium. Until now ? for Jets fans.

The Jets sent an e-mail to ?waiting list? members Tuesday informing them of ticket availability at all levels for the upcoming season. It?s the final campaign at Giants Stadium before the team moves next door to a $1.6 billion replacement.

?There are 5 million Jets fans out there just in the New York metropolitan area, but most think it?s virtually impossible to buy season tickets,? team executive Matt Higgins said. ?Due to the economy and the transition to the new stadium, we want to get the word out that there is a small window where a few thousand tickets will be available. We will sell out, but this is an opportunity.?

Jets fans snapping up the available tickets won?t have long to wait to get into their seats ? the NFL team?s preseason home games are Aug. 14 and Sept. 3, with the regular-season home opener Sept. 20 versus New England. Fans buying tickets for the eight regular-season home games must purchase the same seats for the two preseason games at the same price.

In previous years, a limited number of fans among the roughly 14,000 people on the Jets? waiting list were informed of their chance to replace season-ticket holders who chose not to renew. Higgins said about 7,000 tickets changed hands that way last year.

Waiting-list members now can buy the available seats on a first-come, first-served basis, but Higgins said the most senior members on the list are being called directly to gauge their interest. The seats are not yet available to those not on the waiting list.

The unprecedented availability comes in the midst of a weak economy, the Jets coming off a disappointing season and fan resentment about the cost of ?personal seat licenses? for the new stadium. The PSL is a one-time charge of up to $20,000 or more for the right to purchase season tickets in the lower deck.

?After years of waiting, now it?s your turn,? reads the e-mail sent to fans. ?You are now eligible to purchase season tickets. We anticipate an action-packed season under new head coach Rex Ryan. We hope you join the season-ticket family in 2009 to mark the end of an era and usher in a new one ? the opening of a new stadium in 2010.?

Giants spokesman Pat Hanlon said that no season tickets are available for 2009. But as in past years, a small number of single-game tickets are made available to waiting-list members, he added.

    EXACTLY.

I bet you 90% of the season ticket holders would've remained if they had just simply raised the ticket prices by 50%.

I was in the surf yesterday here in Beach Haven and a guy was throwing a Jets nurf football around in the water. Turns out he's also a season ticketholder and his seniority is horrible... like 2006.

But even him and his buddies were saying how hurting the Jets are with the cancellations. The word is out, you don't have to hear it on the radio. the word is on the street, or, in this case, even in the surf on Long beach Island.

WORD is out on the street,,,I mean after they started calling waitlist people for THIS YEAR it spread like wildfire. I was at a party yesterday and the topic of the Yankees and this Jet chaos came up------simply amazing that people waited for years on the waitlist only to be put way up in the upper level, or endzone and today you can get tickets downstairs wherever you like :drunk:
This years crowd will be much different but the dynamics in the new place are going to be very very different. Will Fireman Ed be required to wear a collared shirt in 2010? I don't believe for one second that that guy won't be there and in some very nice seats that hopefully he paid for himself

the nyjets will soon offer partial packages 2-3-4 game packages with parking. woody will find a way to sell those tickets. i dont think ticket agencies are gonna bail the jets out this time.

i never thought of this. its an interesting concept that follows the baseball and basketball way of selling tickets (partial season packages). i have a feeling you are right and this is the route they end up going.

Why not? With our great winning history they should be falling head over heels for Jets tickets costing $20-50 grand.
