WR/TE Rankings : Jets don?t rate Posted on July 11th, 2009 - by Corey Griffin > http://www.thejetsblog.com/
Keller is the emerging to become the NFL's best pass catching tight End...and we have the AFC's best rushing attack... Who pays these guys?
I don't understand why TJB is upset or why anyone here should be upset. Keller is maybe a top 15 tight end heading into the year if you include his blocking, and Cotchery is a top 30 receiver, but other than that, we're completely unproven. On paper, our weapons look crappy. I'm almost surprised there are 7 teams worse than us.
If our WRs step like we all think they can than this unit can be top 15 if not better. But as of know I'm a bit worried about our WRs.
the guy has played one season and you have him emerging as becoming the best? way to early for wild crazy predictions such as this! he's shown promise to be a good one, lots more to prove before he gets the label as one of the best, let alone THE BEST!
our wrs really are a bunch of nobodys. cotchery had a mediocre year playing along side coles. the others have done nothing that warrants a higher ranking. keller is a beast and should silence all the doubters this year if hes used properly. we have a need at wr that needs to be addressed asap.
If anyone but the jets had this wr situation we would be laughing our balls off cos its the jets we talk up undrafted fa / 7 th rnd pick as superstars. Realistically we have a top 30 wr and a developing potentially top 5 TE after that we have feck all.
25th seems generous. Our WRs haven't really done anything yet, and Keller needs more than a year to be viewed as a legitimate threat. Don't forget there's also a huge question mark of who is going to launch the ball and how effective they're going to be.
That seems about right. We have a good (but not yet star caliber) TE, and only one proven adequate starting WR.
Ha! I love preseason polls because they're all mostly bullshit by week 2. The Wr dept might be right but Keller is seriously going to push us up there for TEs.
Cotch was a solid #2 reciever, decision is still out on how he will handle the leagues #1 db's and Keller is a promising young tight end with a lot of upside. Until Smith/Stuckey/Clowney prove that they can play in the league, they will not be given a ton of respect by the press. Unfortunately a 25 ranking is about right. Can't get mad at it, just hope to prove it wrong.
But they won't... every fan is convinced they have hidden talents on the team but it doesn't always pan out that way. Sometimes it does but 80% of the time it doesn't...
classic raven blueprint - albeit - mostly already in place prior to ryan getting hired..... i couldn't name a raven WR during the past several years that would keep opposing DC's up at night.... todd heap has provided occasional threats..... the whole thing is the OL/running game with lewis in the past and magahee now and a couple others along the way that i cannot recall..... and of course - defense. jil
Keller has a chance to be special but needs to step up into a full time role. We have some WR's w/ potential but potential doesnt win football games.. This passing game is either gonna sink or swim. Especially w/ a probable rookie starting at QB
Hate to be all doom and gloom on the subject of receivers, but I am not even so inclined to call Cotch all that solid. Last year Coles got hurt and tailed off. What did Cotch do? How do you define a solid #2? As someone who can get some catches when there's a superstar on the other side of the field always drawing double coverage? Or as a wideout who can also inspire fear in opponents, and make them think twice about doubling the #1, occasionally stepping up himself and having big games? If you say the latter, I don't think that's Cotch. It sure wasn't last year.
