http://bleacherreport.com/articles/207521-new-york-jets-the-most-overrated-defense-in-the-nfl Hmmmm.....I think this assumption is a little much. We may be a little overrated, but I don't know about THE most overrated defense. This guy bashes Kerry Rhodes pretty bad. Also read the comments at the bottom from some douchy Ravens fan.
awesome, they use players sack stats and tackle stats to back up their argument. any fuckin moron could pull this shit and make assumptions about it. but have they seen these guys play consistently ? my guess is no.
this guy is stupid. in response to kerry's '#1 d' comment, he finds that appaling. what is supposed to say? i'll take a pass on this retard.
That was a putrid article. While I agree our D may be getting too much praise too early, the reasons given in the article are bogus. Calling Jenkins average at best? The guy was the best DL in the NFL for the first 3/4 of the season facing fuckin' triple teams. No one is calling Marques Douglas a rising star. No idea where he got that idea... I expect Douglas to be a stop-gap/role player. Also, he goes on to call everyone on the defense proven or solid, then proceeds to say they aren't stars. Great insight.
Wow. Not only is that horribly written, but what he tries to pawn off as logic can best be described as "my feelings that I can't back up with real arguments but want you to believe in to validate my existence." But hey, he tried to pass off his verbal ejaculate as cogent English, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I'm not even going to criticize the specifics of this article because it's just too damn easy.
"I will admit that the Jets linebacker core is above average. But that’s it. They don’t surpass the Steelers group of James Harrison, LaMarr Woodley, James Farrior, and Lawrence Timmons, or the Ravens crew of Terrell Suggs, Ray Lewis, and Jarret Johnson. Heck, I’d take the Philadelphia Eagles trio of Stewart Bradley, Chris Gocong and Akeem Jordan above the Jets". I love how he calls the Jets LB's "above average, but that's it" because they don't surpass the Steelers or Baltimore or Philadelphia. It's like he's saying "the Jets LB's are not that great. I mean, they're not even better than Pittsburgh or Baltimore".
Loved this statement, "Kerry Rhodes is a solid 26-year old safety, but is more talk than anything." I couldn't agree more. These days I wouldn't even say he is in clearly in the Jets top five defenders. Jenkins: Defense is pathetic when he is off the field. Revis: Some would say he is #1. Scott: Brings leadership and fear factor. Harris: Rhodes had slightly better stats in five more games last year due to injury. Pace: 80 Tackles, 7 Sacks Many will say he is at least better than Pace but not me. Rhodes: 84 Tackles, 1 Sack, 2 Int
Right, that's amazing. They haven't even been rated yet, let alone had a chance to be OVER rated. This is why the internet should be taken with a grain of salt: any moron can post whatever they think, and if enough people read it, somehow it takes on a life and ultimately will be given more credibility than it deserves. This just in: The Pats have the most red, white and blue of any NFL team. Which automatically gives them an edge.
I agree with him concerning Rhodes. In fact, I agree with JetsFan that he isn't even top 5 within the Jets defense. He is way overrated by Jets fans. I do think that he has the ability, but he plays way soft. I hope Ryan can change that mentality.
I find it hard to place anyone at this point because the Mangenius played a lot of players outside of their strengths. Rhodes definitely hasn't lived up to his billing - but there's been plenty of times on the field where you've seen him flash the talent that make people think he's so great... the talent is most absolutely there, but he needs to put it together. I think Rex Ryan will give him the opportunity to do that.
