Would you rather him take a sack? It's a luxury to have a QB that can escape the rush and pick up 50 plus yards a game. Vick's downfall as a passer was the west coast offense. That was one of the all-time worst coaching decisions... Backup numbers? He's a quarterback... In Vick's last season, he threw for 2474 yards with 20 TDs and 13 INTs. He rushed for 1039 and 2 TDs. If you do the math, Vick had 3513 total yards. Vick was in the top ten for total yardage by a quarterback. A yards a yard, no matter how you get it. You can bash Vick all you want about his completion percentage. You know who had the league's best completion percentage in Vick's last NFL season? David Carr.
It's not the point, the point was Vick was simply not a starting caliber QB. He was one dimensonal basically a RB at the QB position. The Falcons were a very good running team with or without Vick.
He led them to the NFC championship game... You can say he's a horrible passer all you want, but he was a damn good quarterback. The guy was a winner.
Michael Vick is very UNDERRATED. he was a very good QB, not a classic passer obviosuly but he led his team to wins which is waht is important.
I try to have my fantasy drafts a couple of weeks from the start of the season. For that reason I would probaly say he is more of the Mr. Irrelavant in the leagues I play in. I stick to 8-10 team leagues, which kind of puts him on the back burner for most teams, unless they announce very early in TC that he will be the starter.
You know, I posted a reply to the topic at hand, whether Sanchez was deserving of a #2 QB pick on a fantasy football team. After my post I read about Michael Vick in a multitude of posts. Was he mentioned in invisible ink? Who gives a shit? He wasn't part of the topic. Everyone likes to make comparisons, I understand that, but why talk about a guy that is worthless? until he signs with someone, I would really not care to talk about or read about him. It's obvious all of you Vick jock-riders are probably pissed we drafted Sanchez. Keep it to yourself, most of us don't give a shit.
If you don't want to read it, you don't have to. By the way, I was one of the few big time Mark Sanchez supporters here before the draft. I'm not riding Michael Vick's jock, I just know talent when I see it. It's bullshit to knock him as a player because of the mistakes he made off the field. Sure, he wasn't a big time passer, but he is the most physically gifted quarterback to ever play the game.
That's an absolutely dreadful comparison. First of all, what changes swept through after the 2007 season? With the exception of the departure of Julius Jones, that entire offense stayed intact. Phillips was the HC in 2007. They went 13 - 3 and had high hopes for 2008. Oh. You mean after 2006. I know, I shouldn't expect you to get any facts straight. Anyway, after a 2006 season in which they won the Wild Card, their entire offense stayed in place. Why change philosophies without a change in personnel? How is that comparable to the Falcons, who turned over everybody but their center, receivers, and a backup RB? New QB, new starting RB, entirely rebuilt OL AND new coaching staff? You think there should be continuity there for no reason? That's hilarious. Wrong! BP was gone in 2007! Sparano slipped into the background during the 2007 season. He was as good as gone. Way to know your own coaching staff. Bravo! How does "why change what works" fit that situation? "All the new coaches", perhaps, but there WAS carryover between the two regimes. "All the new players" doesn't fit. The roster had been successful, the roster largely carried over. The situations are nowhere near analogous. I thought we were discussing the run game? 4 new OL starters, a new starting RB, and a new QB. How is that not an entirely different run game? You crack me up. I will spell this out for you one last time. I'm sure you won't get it, since you're obviously a complete and utter moron, but I'll spell it out and then I'm done with you. I'm sure you'll reply with your usual uninformed drivel and idle rantings. The Falcons ran the ball last season because they had a rookie QB and a fresh-legged FA RB. They did NOT run the ball because of some mystical commitment to the run that transcends personnel and the offensive philosophy of the coaches. Any attempt to connect the different regimes outside of uniform is foolish, which also means it's right in your wheelhouse. Congratulations, the board is a few IQ points dumber because of your presence. I've been told you're a moderator over at Fin Heaven. My God, I can only imagine the utter wasteland that board must be. No wonder you come here so frequently to get your ass raped. I'm sure it's frustrating finding yourself awash in slobber and oppressed by the rancid stench of all of those unwashed posters shitting themselves. Is it one of your mod duties to change their diapers? If you represent the cream of the crop, the line for short buses to and from the forum has to be around the block.
I never said he wasn't talented. I merely hinted to the fact that everytime a thread about a QB is started, Vicks name comes up. Before we drafted Sanchez, I didn't mind hearing about it. Now that we have Sanchez, leave it to the NFL forum or "Fantasy" forum. BTW, I didn't read it at all, I saw his name mentioned in the post above mine, and it got to me. It makes my post off topic, even though mine was actually about the topic.
