As many problems as I had with Mangini's coaching last season, he had a huge part in building the core of the current team. That is one this that I cannot bash the guy for. The foundation wasn't there when Herm left.
Could you please tell me then what keywords to search under since you're clearly much more well read on this subject than I am? Thanks.
You can just search what I wrote in my post. It's not a definitive quote rather my personal view after hearing many expert opinions. Minimum jail time, months at most, not years, like I said.
I'd be down with aquiring Marshall. He is young, explosive, and has good hands. He has all the tools necessary to be a #1 wideout in this league. Attitude seems to be a problem with WRs everywhere, so I won't even go there. We need a big play WR! As always, it'd depend on what we have to give up. I'd definitely want us to be involved in negotiations.
lets get it done. send them kellen clemmens plus a draft pick for him and pick up a veteran qb to push sanchez and to teach him. this might be the stupidest thing iv ever said but in a strange way it sounds good in my head.
A part of me wants Marshall and another says let our kids play. I read today in the Denver Post that they were not even thinking about trading him, and that they would get it settled with him. He is coming off Knee surgery, will be wanting a big deal when his contract expires next summer, has legal issues and the Bronco's will want a lot to get him. He is a great player, but is it worth sending picks and players? i would say it isn't, give our guys the chance this season, if they don't show then we have a first round pick to go and get our receiver next year. Keep Clemens give Clowney/Stuckey and Smith a chance, signing Plax would be more beneficial to us IMO, i think he is a better target and we will have to give up nothing to get him. Which means he can give us all he has this season, we will be competitive and then next off-season we go to the draft to get our guy.
Marshall is a young, Top-10 WR in the NFL who would make us a playoff team. He changes our offense so much, it's not even funny.
I agree... the guy is 25!!!! We will draft a WR in next years draft in rd1 or 2... so we might as well get one straight away and have a real football player instead of having to wait 2/3 seasons for him to develop... I'm all for giving a 1st rounder in exchange of Marshall...
If McDaniels wants to prove that he's the boss, then he should tell Marshall to sit down and shut up. A real leader leads, he doesn't let spoiled millionaires push him around. That's leverage for Denver. If Marshall doesn't report 30 days before the start of the regular season he foreits a year of accrued service--meaning he doesn't get to become a free agent, and he has to stay in Denver even longer. He can complain all he wants but if he wants big free agent money he's gonna have to play.
I've read from a number of sources that if there is an uncapped year next season, he is not a FA. I'm not sure about the scenario, but I know that FA and it's rules are pretty much out the window without a CBA. Which means Denver will retain his rights longer, at least a year. I've been wondering if that is the same situation that Leon is in... and why he was holding out.
Well that, plus why wait a year if you can get your team to pay up now? Anything can happen in a year -- maybe you go to the Pro Bowl, but maybe you tear up your knee. Besides which the Broncos can retain his rights as long as they want to with the franchise tag, which no player wants because again, it's just one year, and anything can happen in a year....
He has the talent, but I really don't like his attitude and his problems. I would take him, but it has to be for the right price. I like Plaxico more though. I think, in theory, Plax would be a better fit here. The problem is I don't know what his punishment is going to be like and I would not pass on the opportunity for Marshall to take a risk on Plax.
without a firsty being involved. and if he wants a new contract, this one has a ton of incentives. that being said, a guy like that isn't great to pair with sanchez.
Depends on the asking price and if he's willing to live his career towards football and not getting into trouble, I think with this new roster and great veterans and coaches he can strive for sure, i'd prob give a 3rd or 2nd for the guy with maybe a cap filler dude, but right now i'm not beggin for him, I think we got some decent weapons on this squad with Keller and Cotch he's also a FA next season also, But i definitely wouldn't mind the guy tho, hes a freaking beast
This "happy with the receivers we have" crap is making me sick. If the Jets dont pick up either Plax or Marshall, they are in serious trouble.
How are they in serious trouble? If any of those Jet WRs step their game up, were not that bad, im not saying it will happen but I think Cotch and Keller are a pretty nasty duo for this season and Leon Washington from the back field can get us a nasty yard gaining play every time he touches the ball, im not sold on trying to give up alot for these guys especially cheddar bob Plax, if we get no WRs this year theres plenty that will be available next season to add and the draft (Dez Bryant look out for him)

There is no guarantee though that he won't do jail time.
