These smoking commercials are starting to piss me the fuck off. I don't smoke...I don't feel like I have to watch that disgusting shit on tv.
Manuel finally tossed, I'm surprised that it took him this long to decide he wanted out of this one. There's no denying that the Mets have gotten some bad calls (Cora with the bases juiced comes immediately to mind) but it's not exactly the reason they're trailing by double digits. Wonder if we see some hit batters now after the Bruney/K-Rod pregame confrontation.
Isn't Bruney in Trenton? I thought it was just words exchanged thru the media? EDIT: Nevermind, just saw the article. Pretty funny
Actually, it was to pictures of your mom. But you're right... the improved pythag would probably be more stimulating. Switching now...
davecrazy is lost in the twilight zone as per his realization that it's actually the Mets who are a joke. He is also confused as fuck after his team failed to hit any pop up home runs in our embarassment of a stadium.
#1 Well then why compare it to rage? Nobody here is raging about this. I see people making fun of it and laughing about what a joke it is... calling it an embarrassment... that's not faux rage. #2 Oh of course, it's the "everybody hates the yankees" theme again. Did people not say that Coors Field was an embarrassment to baseball for years? What about Texas or Citizen Bank? Hope you didn't really bet your house on that one...
Not rage. Outrage. As in, offensive to decency or good taste. I also included faux "shock." As in, they were shocked... SHOCKED... that the Yankees would design a stadium like this. This wouldn't have happened on their watch, no sir! THEY would have designed the stadium so the air molecules moved precisely how they wanted them to. It's the same shit you see when people start pulling the moral superiority card on steroid users or whatever. The stadium gives up a lot of cheapie home runs this year. More than the team expected. People need to get over it and get used to it. Did people say that about Coors Field or the Ballpark or Citizens? If so, I hardly hear it (at least, it was never even close to the same degree that we're hearing about it now, or with the same level of disdain for it). They were talking about it on WEEI this week like it was the most disgusting affront that baseball has ever seen. It's discussed almost daily on BBTN. It's pretty ridiculous.
I don't think the argument is the same on those two topics, I think your defense is the same... which is to exaggerate the reaction (with terms like shock and outrage) so as to call it "faux" and thus dismiss it as ridiculous rather then acknowledge the validity of the real topic. If you missed the years of commentary/criticism of the ball carrying out of Coors Field I'd like to know what rock you lived under, I may need to hide there after this weekend.
I love how Yankee fans on this board have no problem deriding the Mets for being "a joke of a franchise" and being the Yankees' bitch or whatever, but then they root for the Jets and object to the same crap from Patriots and Giants fans. It makes no sense.
Yes, there is validity to the real topic, which is that there is an obvious flaw in the new stadium compared to what was expected. The exaggeration comes not on my end, but from the people who go so far as to call it an embarrassment to the game of baseball over and over again. I didn't miss it, it's just - as I said - it's been nowhere near the same degree as what we've heard the past two months in the national sports media, and then parroted back ad infinitum from those who soak it up.
