Here's the main point I got out of the Ryan interview.

Rex Ryan's experience has taught him that, a team's success will be dependent on team chemistry. It starts with the Defense, and it moves into the O and STs. If the players play for each other, trust each other, and trust their coaches to put them in a position to make plays and win games, then the sky's the limit.

If he's right about this, then this team is heading in the right direction going by twitter reports and player interviews. The atmosphere has changed at Jets camp. Players are now enjoying themselves and their excitement is clearly showing on tabloids, practice, twitter, interviews, etc. If everyone is on the same page early in the season and the momentum carries over in the late part of the season, we could have a special year at our hands.

I hope he's right. Go Jets.

Ok, now back to reality, no proven QB, no # 1 WR, disgruntled RB's, no depth on the OL, no proven pass rusher, no punter, rookie head coach...... ahhh its off season, screw it

the most significant thing that he said was, When the D plays well, Mike Pettine called the plays. When they do poorly, I called the plays.

That is a message to his team as much as to the media and fans.

If you play or coach for me, I will take the heat, you just give 110%.

That is why people run through walls for this guy. Great message.

Wonder how this calling out the fans is going to work – of the 350 fans that are actually in the stadium before halftime and after the third quarter, now 200 of them might start screaming which will cause the other 150 to start screaming at them to shut the fuck up.

    This could lead to brawls.

i know i am in the minority about this but i am getting very uncomfortable listening to ryan brag about the jets and finally taking a few shots today at the pats......

its already BB material and rest assured it will be a media frenzy leading up to that 2nd reg season game.....

he is giving the pats ammo like they need it with brady coming back and losing to the fish last year for the division.

do we really think all 3 phases of our team will gel by week 2 - and play stellar enough to beat the pats who likely will be even better than last year??

its a dangerous thing and ryan is trying to smoke out a 40 year curse - in one offseason.

IMO he has to chill a bit and let the play on the field do the rest of the talking.

At the same time, he didn't really say anything other than what he should be saying. He's not supposed to kiss BB's anything. He's supposed to get his team pumped, and confident about themselves. It won't really matter; the Jets are going to win, or not, either way.

If you have no faith in a week 2 win, then what game can you have faith in, as a Jets fan? How many games did they blow last year, that they were supposed to win?

But I do agree that sometimes people talk themselves into failure because if he gets them too high and they get their asses handed to them, then that could set the stench for another shit year.

Personally, I think this guy would give credit where due. He's not saying BB sucks, he said we're here to attack: that's the notice. If Brady's knee isn't 100% he could be in for a really shitty day, because we're going to attack.

    I like it.

Totally agree. RR has to exude confidence that he is not afraid to go nose to nose with BB.

RR did a superb interview, imo.

I wanted Cowher but after about 2 weeks of Ryan being in charge I was glad he got the job instead. If nothing else he makes being a Jet fan more fun. I don't think we will have to watch him standing on the sideline chewing gum trying to act like he's doing something useful.

That's why we butt heads...your lack of imagination. Try this...

"Bringing Mangini back this season, the Jets have slim hopes of getting to a championship...."

See how naturally that rolls off? :rofl2:

The only thing that has to connect...is Gholstons helmet to Brady's knee/

Now, generally I would not utter such a phrase, but payback for Jarvis Green rolling up on Pennington gives the license.

i've never seen this franchise's fans so ready to rip a head off and shit in it since maybe, and I do mean maybe, the Parcells era.

this is something that, during the summer, we have to revel in and enjoy, because we know how it may end up once the season an reality sets in. Right now, enjoy all of it, and believe in something new and inspiring.

when has being a Jets fan been this fun?

posted most of this in another thread but it totally relates

me and vickblows had the conversation and right off the bat i said cowher or rex ryan. after cowher bowed out, i remember telling him during the ravens/phins game. I want Rex Ryan, and he needs to bring bart scott and brian leonhard with him. my dreams came true.

and furthermore the plenty of "enough of the rah rah, i want results!" attitude other posters are taking over the fact we finally got a Head Coach with Bravado who knows his x's and o's without a doubt and talks just like any well educated football fan would and is straight to the point.

granted, it could blow up in his face, but I have too much faith in what hes done in his career and the kind of culture hes already establishing to beleive it happens barring injuries to key players.

mangini's motto was, lets work hard , no grins, lets get the job done. and when my actually good gameplan before kickoff requires adjustment later on, give me some bubble gum

rex ryan's more like, hard work is a given, the best players play with passion and this game is meant to be fun. but whats the funnest of all, dominating.

i also really like the fact hes making everyone room together and a solo room is a 1 man privilege. sends the message that were all in this together, and the person who works the hardest, will be the person to make that play for us to seal a game.

the key to his judgement though will be how Schotty JR handles the offense cause the impression is out of Respect for the position Rex was in last year before Harbaugh came in, hes just going to let him run his show on offense. lets hope mangini and favres abrupt arrival was the problem . i think it most likely was.

point in case. Rex Ryan is the shit and the only way my opinion on that changes is if this team is the joke of the league next yr.

this has been a educated rambling, thanks for tuning in.

and last note. the "im not here to kiss BB's ring" is the exact kind of attitude this franchise needs. fucking love it.

I agree. I've always believed in the adage that the team takes on the coach's personality during games and that being the case, we should have an aggressive, confident, ass-kicking team. How soon that translates to wins is anyone's guess and depends on a lot of variables, but if the guy running the show doesn't have the guts to believe it can be done why should anyone else? Joe Namath wasn't afraid to be confident and that was the last time we won it all.

That's a great sentiment, but stating it in publis like this is a bit self serving. You tell your players and coaches that behind closed doors... and then just take the heat when it comes.

Now, he'll come off as a martyr when he takes the heat because the fans all know he is taking it for the team...

That's reaching big time. For one, it was certainly not intentional, second, it was the Jets fans who were cheering that Pennington got hurt...
