Great interview. Can't wait for this season to start!

By the way, does anyone else feel like Rich Eisen is beginning to become unbearable? I feel like he's following the Bob Faget model of comedy...

    -----

What advice did your dad give you?

    Rex: "Don't screw up."

Flanagan: "Maybe you should lower your expectations being in your first year as a head coach and a new team and all?"

    Rex: "Why?"

This guy lives and breathes football. Talking about exploiting matchups and everything he learned while coaching under his dad.

It's going to be fun being a Jets fan now.

He's a head coach, not a talk show host. Talk is cheap. Love the guy on paper. I also loved Herm and Mangini. I am done talking up the head coach till I see results. Bottom line, seems like he's the real deal but he's never been a head coach so there is going to be a learning curve and he's going to make mistakes that cost us games.

NO ones talking him up , least not in this thread.
Sure he has to earn respect. But for my money , he has NFL pedigree running through his veins and has served his apprenticeship too.
If anyone is Swaggerlicious , its Rex

The guys been around football his whole life. I'm not worried about a learning curve.
He's doing the right thing. He knows he doesn't know it all and is letting his coaches coach.
He'll stick to defense and will let Shotty run the offense.

"My plan is to win the Superbowl and I plan on doing that every year I coach."

That's what I call positive thinking. I really like this guy. Quite a change from Mangini-speak.

I think Eisen is hilarious and, unlike the idiots on ESPN, he doesn't pander to the lowest common intellectual denominator and doesn't come across as too abrasive.

Haha i think Eisen is a legend some of the stuff he goes on about is great , was brilliant when he did the 40 and pulled his hammy haha.

Also him and Hasselbeck were talking and he had asked Hass if he read his book but Hass was kidding around with him and said he didnt get around to reading it and that he used it as a coaster for his coffee , Then Eisen went on to say how it can be used in more than one way

The only part of this I agree with is the part about ESPN being run by idiots.

Not to turn this into a pro-Eisen thread, but I'm also a fan.

Just try and listen to 30 consecutive seconds of Berman or Stuart Scott and you'll really appreciate Eisen. The crew at ESPN are the corniest douchebags around. It boggles my mind that they don't understand how obnoxious they are.

    +1

There's an old, OOOOOOOOOOOLD military saying: you cannot go into the battlefield expecting to lose, and come away with a victory. Seriously, we are a creature of self-fulfilling prophecy. If you think you won't make it to the next level, guess what. You won't - whether you have the potential to do so or not.
