Totally agree with this piece , we need to add to the current offense and not take some pieces away. For me keeping TJ is going to be paramount.
If Schott is to do well , then he needs a free reign over the offense which , by the sounds of it he will get.

interesting and optimistic. Certainly feels like May to me.

Clemens and Sanchez will know the whole system and not have anything scaled back for them. It'll just come down to if Sanchez is truly ready to handle the speed of the NFL so soon. If not, then we see the same under Clemens.

i hope that this team is fun to watch, even though a 10-12 win season looks slim with that schedule.

In 06 everyone loved the offensive and defensive play calling and in the next two years things changed and fans grew to hate Shott and Sutton. What makes more sense, that Mangini dictated the offensive and defensive schemes in his rookie year and then backed off and let Shott and Sutton do what they wanted all along in the second and third years? Or that in his rookie year the new coach let the coordinators do what they wanted, and then let success go to his head and thought he was smarter than everyone else?

I think eventually it will come out that the "pudgy fraud" looked good in 06 because Shott and Sutton were calling good games and that the 07 and 08 Jets showed the real Manstupid.

We ranked 18th in scoring in 06 with the 25th ranked O and while are D was a bottom half of the league in yards, we were in the top 6in points allowed. We had great special teams won the field position game and had a very good turnover defferential. The O was not great it was creative but the thing about the NFL there is tape and creative only works for so long.

At this point what Shott needs to give us now is execution. He has had enough good players in the system for enough time to get production out of the O on a pure execution basis. We don't need to fool people, we have good talent on the O we need to execute.

We don't have a great WR but we have everything else and we do have speed. No reason that we shouldn't have a very productive O especially since we will not be limited to inside the hash marks in the passing game.

You're asking if Shott Jr. can mask his own coaching abilities, which are lacking ,correct?

To think that this guy was ever considered as HC material is absolutely laughable.

Yeah, I never got that one either. And Ryan loves him and says he's gonna be a head coach next year. Maybe the article is accurate and we will see the 2006 version. Stats don't tell all the story. That was a dynamic, creative offense with unpredictable play calling. All I can say is, " No 3rd and 1 shotguns"!!!!!

I have faith in Schotty. I saw a lot of creativity in 2006.

Even with all of the confusing motion, I think defenses will figure it out halfway through the season if we can't develop a deep threat. Without the wide open spaces that creates, all the motion in the world won't counter-balance essentially 8 guys covering a 15-yard field depth

in all fairness it seems the only team that thought he was HC material were the new york jets. i dont recall him going on any other HC interviews last year. if anything this year will show if he's qualified to be an offensive coordinator.

He was being sought after by the Dolphins after the 06 season but turned them down. The Dolphins went on to hire Cam Cameron

yeah, in 2006 that was my point. the only team that thought he was worthy of being a head coach last year was the jets. its just a classic case of putting the cart before the horse. lets see if he's even a decent offensive coordinator this year now that he can run things the way he wants and has a strong offensive line. (within reason that is, i know our offense isn't exactly stacked at WR and will more then likely have a rookie starting the season.)

I thought KOZ was referring to when the phins were interested in him. Sorry for the confusion. I think he's going to do a great job this year.

The only thing I hated about shotty last year was where he would call a 5 wr set with no running back on 3 and 2 - there is no explanation for that - you have to at least show that running is a possibility on a short yardage down

We're definitely going to find out if it was Schotty or Mandoofus calling the shots once we see the offense in action when the season begins.

I'll put my bets on the "Genius" having been running the show.

I like Schotty and think he is underrated by fans...

I'm glad Sanchez is so into studying the playbook and all of Schotty's wishes...It'll pay off huge if he is the starter this year.

i hope that he pulls a Garrett and stays here for Sanchez's well being..

if not, Cavanaugh will become our starter.

I doubt he'd stay here if he was offered a HC job and if he got a job elsewhere I would imagine he'd bring Clemens with him.

My gut feeling is that , when Rex came to the Jets , he had a conversation with Schottie along the lines of "Hey I need you to do a job for me on my first season here , its your offense buddy , go do what you need to do and make a name for yourself, do well and you get HC offers, I won't stand in your way".

I have an active educated imagination
