I didn't know the Jets promoted Mangini to GM!?!?!?! Why does everything Tannenbaum does go through Mangini??? So we get an untested QB and an untested RB. Maybe a WR, but still...

Its all about the balance. You need that hardcore power guy ala Greene, you need the speed elusive guy to be explosive ala Leon, and you need that guy who no matter what the situation you can count on for 2 yards when you absolutely have to have it, that guy is Jones (or as someone else pointed out, Curtis Martin Lite). I don't think he meant Power running, as opposed to smashmouth football. I mean he mentioned leon, and if you are ripping him for "thinking" jones is a power back, what would you say if he thought Leon was a power back.

Smashmouth football is what we will be playing next year, and for that, we need that all important tri-fecta to help Sanchez learn, grow and make his life easier in transitioning.

Curtis Martin and Thomas Jones in the same discussion...fucking laughable. Don't tarnish Curtis Martin's name.

no you don't. you need one good RB to carry the load, hopefully a second to give him a breather, and maybe a FB you can hand the ball off to every once in a while. that still doesn't change the fact that it is the one good RB who carries the load. your contention is that a running game is predicated on having three running backs carrying the load.

please, name one team that applies to your philosophy in which the running game is designed around having three different backs of differing abilities who you hand off to interchangeably.

Thats kind of what we are trying to do here... and I wasnt the one who called him Curtis Martin, i alluded to someone else who said it. Jones and Martin's running styles are very similar, not overly explosive, not pure power, straight north-south runner who just gets what is there on every play. Thats what both of those guys do

TJ is Curtis Martin LITE for a reason.

Read: have you noticed 3rd and short, stuffed situation last year with TJ? Curtis Martin could actually get those yards to convert. TJ couldn't. That's why he's CM LITE.

I'm not saying I don't want to trade TJ.
I'm saying we can either trade him for a 5th (I'm being optimistic), or we can keep him so he can be both an insurance for Greene and LW (in case they can't adapt to playing many snaps) and Sanchez in case he needs some pressure taken off him.
Another scenario people have not thought of is that L. Washington will want quite a bit of money. But Sanchez will also want some and so will a WR we get in a trade and so will Mangold which we have to resign... so we might just want to keep TJ in case we can't resign Washignton.

The last thing we need is another receiver that can't receive (i.e., Hatchett, Conway, McCareins, Graham...etc.)

I hear this value thing being a big issue.

I don't think a deal like this gets done with any other team out there. I agree his value should not be all that much, but, it is Magini's team. Mangini is going to have a higher value for TJ, so the value chart could be almost identical to the value of, Edwards.

    Just a thought.

..and the only reason that makes very good sense is because of what happened on draft day. Clearly we got a bargain that day because of his former players. Could be a similar scenario.

The Jets should absolutely trade for Braylon. If he's focused, he won't drop a billion passes. With the talent on the Jets, and the NY media, Braylon will be forced to hold up his end of the bargain and play with purpose. He'll be pumped to play for the Jets, and he'll be our true #1 for years. Braylon is incredibly undervalued right now, it's not even funny. Trade for him now!!!

He didnt give a shit about that pick. He wanted more picks to build his team, Edwards is a different situation.

Get the deal done. Edwards, Cotchery, and Keller would give the JETS three legit receiving options, which only helps the team get better.
