Pls refer to the Dolphins v.s Ravens game this past post season. That is as far as Chad pt 1 will ever get you.
And btw just to let you know against two Top 10 teams last year Sanchez threw for 585 yards and 8 TDs with only 1 INT. That comparison just does not compute.
If Clemens isn't ahead right now he might as well join the military or something. He's been in this offense for four years, Sanchez was drafted 9 days ago.
Once again I hope Sanchez is good. The problem is Usc produces alot of Systems Qb's who excel behind their Nfl ready lines and superior talent in the weak Pac 10 conference. Carson Palmer is the exception not the rule. The stats are good but so were Matt Leinart's. Im a little concerned about trading up for a alleged Franchise Qb who could not beat out Booty. Especially when the year of the Qb is the 2010 draft. I think this was more of a Psl move as opposed to a Smart Football move. Either way I hope Sanchez works out and I will support him when he does come in to play.
Sure we did. Chad would pick apart the opposing D from the 20 to the 20 and then throw a game ending pick. See Week 1 at Miami last year. :rofl2:
What year should he have beaten out Booty? Booty was a great college QB. Teams with a great starting QB don't normally replace them for a younger version simply because they are more of a pro prospect. You prefer having a QB who didn't play in a pro set? The amount of QB's who come out not pro ready who bust are numerous. Clemens while having excellent pro tools didn't even know how to drop back and step up in a pocket at the pro level one of the things that's held him back.
So you're against Sanchez because he couldn't beat out the incumbent starting QB during his sophmore year and because Matt Leinart has struggled as a pro so far? None of that explains to me how he is Chad #2 though. And why exactly is Chad #2 bad when he's led 4 teams to the playoffs and 2 division titles. Just curious.
Most guys have one flaw or another. Ken O'Brien played in a pro set in college, had Chad's smarts and Namath's arm but didn't have the sense to move one step sideways or up to avoid the rush. He took a 7-step drop and anchored himself there for better or worse, so if he didn't have maximum protection on every play the drive ended with a sack, or two sacks. The question is how does the guy overcome his flaws, it remains to be seen with Sanchez what his flaws are and how he handles them.
Yes, several people have been making this rhetorical point. Which has nothing to do with whether or not Clemens ends up being the starter on OD. Absolutely nothing.
You don't think? And how is it a rhetorical point? It's the only advantage he has right now and it diminishes a little every day. Seriously, how is this even a story? If Sanchez was ahead or even you'd have a story.
All im saying is I think alot of talent at Usc is overrated because of their system and not their talent. Now he will be in a pro set against pro talent so he will get his chance to prove himself. I think having Chad on the team held Clemens back the most.
Over rated by who? Pro personal directors, NFL GM's and coachig staffs or talking heads? College players today aren't getting their temps taking with an oral thermometer. Sanchez by all accounts threw for everyone, had a private meeting and diner with the Jets, was tested, probed, examined by doctors and I'm betting they looked at every throw this kid has made going back to High School. Does that mean he won't bust absolutely not but unless you think Sanchez was taken as simply a PSL stunt, I suspect he graded up right at the top of our draft board, fills a huge need and they think he has the tools to be a big time WCO QB. There is a reason Lienart fell to 10th and Palmer was taken No. 1 over all.
I think Sanchez was for Psl's reasons but he was not a stunt. By all accounts he has done all that you say he has. The problem is I think it would have better served our team to stay pat get keep our picks and wait until next season when the better qb's come out if Clemens or Ratliff fizzles. I think Woody made that move to sell seats. Sanchez graded at the top of the draft boards this year and that is a major reason I think he came out. Depending on team needs and considering the Qb's that are coming next year he made a smart business decision by coming out right now and made millions more than he would have in 2010 considering the competition.
