Its hard to say if hes a career back up , it all depends on the current crop of QBs around , but for me he does not look like a starter.

In my opinion I think Sanchez will start even if KC has a slightly better pre-season. Sitting behind a seasoned veteran to learn will generally help a young qb. However, with only 8 starts to his name, KC will not be much help in molding Sanchez to be the franchise qb. Sanchez has the help of a good O-line and running game and will not be shell-shocked and end up like David Carr did. Unless Sanchez looks terrible in pre-season, I think the Jets staff starts him from game 1.

Because it takes a lot more than being liked to be ready to start on opening day.

and those 16 starts in college?

Sanchez has the least experience out of any top 5 rookie QB possibly ever. He needs to sit and learn for a little while. One full season is the absolute maximum. I can see him starting mid season.

What Makes Ya'll Think The NYJ Advantages Won't Work for KC too?

I have very much enjoyed reading all these wild-assed posts about the Rooks.

To me, Ryan and B-Schott are setting up a jim-dandy competition for TC. It will either make KC come out and shine, or it will birth Sanchez.

Who cares which? We win in either case.

The one thing that matters is that the defense is really tough and dominant on BOTH of them. That's what I'm hoping for because it bodes well for the season -- never mind our QB squabbles.

I would like to see a lot of INTs and PDs. I would like to see both QBs get frustrated, start hollering, and developing happy feet. Until the pre-season games, when the Offense starts to finally catch up a little bit.

Too much emphasis on a dominating passing attack in practice.

Not enough ambition in the smash mouth.

i doesn't matter who starts the season.. bottom line.. Sanchez finishes it.. thats it.. they might go with KC th first few games.. just to give sanchez a few more weeks of preparation and some extra time to watch and learn.. but in the end.. sanchez will be our starting QB to finish out the season..

For this year its a transitional period. Sanchez is the future, while Clemens would be the short term solution.

are you aware of the philosophies of the current regime??

I agree... think of what the raiders did with Russell. Except that Sanchez won't turn out like he did.

Sanchez will start from day one, unless he has a total meltdown in PS.

    Yep.

Yep. Talking about fans' and posters' ambition, not Ryan's, whom I expect will follow through on his promises to expose some of the other guys' blood.

ah... in that case I too am not as worried about a #1 standout WR when most of the calls won't be about throwing it down the field. Cotchery can beat CBs 1 on 1. And I trust Clowney's speed to separate safeties from the other receivers.

We will see a vertical offense every now and then, but its only when the right coverage is set up against the offense... no more 15 yard outs on a 2nd and 3 from their 26. Just hand the ball off.

But for the 2 minute drills, i hoping Sanchez is the guy to march down the field and put up that last scoring drive to win or seal the game... Jets haven't had that in a while.

It's hard to go by what Ryan says when he's talking about the QBs, but I have a feeling that Sanchez will have to come out of the gate in a pretty spectacular way to beat Clemens out for the job in week one.

I can't think of any real reason to hurry him along and put him in before he's really ready.

Agreed, I don't want to go through all of that 'dumbing down the offense' nonsense we went through a year ago if we don't necessarily have to, although if Clemens stinks it up they may have to.

I for some reason doubt it will happen, but it is entirely conceivable that Clemens will not step up to the challenge, and (ironically) Sanchez wins by default, in which case there may well have to be some changes made to the O. I hope that does not happen, either, though.

The best case scenario for the team is that Clemens with his knowledge of the team and offense plays great, improves his trade value, meanwhile Sanchez learns what he needs to to take over at some appropriate time. Clemens is then traded for a draft pick or quality player, and Sanchez steps in when he's ready.

    It's all good.

I have rooted for Clemens from day one and to be honest I really believe that Sanchez is Chad part 2 but the best case scenario is for Clemens to play well enough to go elsewhere but not good enough to create another Qb Controversy. Hopefully Sanchez is what all the so called experts say he is and we can have stability for a change.

This debate will be much more interesting once we see them both play behind the same offensive line. Hopefully they split the preseason starts evenly so they have a good gauge of where each QB is.
