See some of the same resemblance you do, but he lacks the same easy balance that Emmitt had, and it looks like he wants to punish defenders much more than Emmitt did.

Is this guy better than a healthy Jesse Chatman?

Yes, this guy has what it takes to replace TJ when he's burned out. I'm hoping TJ uses this as motivation to come back and quit whining about his contract and give us one or two more good years of solid downhill running. Next year though I'd be very content with a SG/Leon tandem in the backfield.

EDIT: By next year, I mean the 2010 season.

Ron Dayne and Shonn Greene are different kinds of runners, Ron Dayne was terrible at short yardage plays because he had more of that cutback type of running style, did a lot of east/west running. Greene on the other hand like I said was a battering ram, a pure north/south runner. I think at worst he is a T.J. Duckett if he isn't fast enough.

Let's see, he's a short, stocky guy with explosive feet. He'd need to get himself into playing shape, but other from that who says he couldn't be a productive backup? Brainstorm with me.

I heart Shonn Greene now. This dude looks bad ass! Can't wait for the season to start so we can watch Greene bowl over some NE Patsies.

Dayne had trouble getting out of the backfield. It wasn't the east-west as much as the fact that he was a step slow to the hole. The fact that he couldn't just put his shoulder down and run over an NFL linebacker in the hole like he could at Wisconsin was the reason he had troubles in the NFL.

Big meant something in college when most of the defenders were big or quick. In the NFL they were big and quick.

This is it. It's got most of the plays from the 2 videos GM posted, and some more less flashy plays. It's got much better angles of that Madden spin that Royal T was talking about at 7:15 and 7:47. He actually jukes the guy out of his cleats before he makes the spin. Just judging by NCAA footage, this guy does everything I wished Thomas Jones would do and didn't.

I think we would still need that 3rd RB. So we can have that three headed monster. Like Baltimore had with Rice, Leronn, and Willis. Because I think we will look so nice with TJ, Leon, and Shonn all working together. I believe this has been a really productive off season for both sides of the ball.

I remember a lot of Ron Dayne highlights, and I don't remember him lowering his shoulder at the LOS much in the NCAA. Or being good at it, either. I don't know why you would ever compare this guy to Ron Dayne. Their running styles are not comparable at all.

Exactly my thought, he failed at NFL football by being a big back playing a little back's style, especially when the Giants were drafting him as a powerback

I just watched Greene's highlights for like the 30th time, and this guy knows how to deliver a pop to the defenders, it's so much fun to watch. He gets the right leverage to take a tackler out of position to wrap him up, takes them out of their leverage points so he can get extra yardage. I am beginning to get more pumped for Greene than I am for Sanchez. It's fun watching 8 guys tackle him.

thats because on a goal line stand, the Jets will score the TD on 3 straight runs instead of getting stopped at the line. We have the back to get through the pile.

Same here. I was amped up on this kid for months and for the first time ever the Jets delivered on a pick I really wanted... this guy is going to be a stud.

I'm really looking forward to the Leon Washington / Shonn Greene backfield.

after watching certain runs on that highlight film, he reminds me of a poor mans Michael Turner.

He has the leg size, and a slight second gear.
