what I love about his arm strength after watching highlight videos - he has a very quick release. he also has a very sound foundation using his lower body to power his throws.

it is a very far cry from what Penny's throws are mechanically.

i'm glad someone brought that up---

Testaverde's strength came from his legs. He said it himself. its like pitching in baseball. The velocity comes from the hip movement and the leg drive. Tom Brady and Manning do a great job at stepping into a throw. Pennington uses his arm and only his arm. He has a very stiff front leg when throwing.

Sanchez will be fine. I can see him having a Hasselbeck kind of velocity in the NFL... that's fine by me. He led his team to a SB.

that's what sold me on him.

Leinart wasn't anywhere near this cool or mature. That's why i hate those comparisons... and he's exponentially more media savvy than Palmer.

Wonder what Schotty means by "playing tall?" Like you guys already said, it does look like a lot of his delivery is generated from his legs... I hope they don't f him up by changing his throwing motion.

I think he may be too much of a knee bender in the pocket, and doesn't stand tall.

they won't mess with how the throws, but more how he looks in the pocket.. its a minor adjustment.

I think of it of a soldier who may slouch when standing at attention in boot camp, only the Jets will not make Sanchez do push ups for the minor flaw.

Sanchez has at least a good arm. Pete Carroll called it "Great" and while other scouts might not say its great, and its probably not Carson Palmer "great"... Carroll has seen a few QBs come thru USC to judge that Sanchez has at least a good arm by NFL standards. Out of 30 starting QBs in the league, his arm strength has to be in the top 1/3. It's every bit as strong as Brady's, and he's become the prototype to judge QBs by. Plus, JaMarcus Russell can throw 65 yards from his knees? Look how good thats doing him in Oakland. Give me the pocket presence, poise, accuracy, and natural leadership of Sanchez any day over Stafford's rocket arm. Sanchez's physical skills are nothing to worry about.

That sounds amazing because the only reason we couldnt get far with Pennington was because his lack of arm strength soo a QB lik him but with a better arm could definately create wonders for this team

One thing I'm impressed with is his awareness in the pocket.

I haven't read about that anywhere but look at the vids. He Knows where the pocket is and even when it's closing in he always seems aware.
He moves in the pocket when he has to but is calm in the pocket.

"TE Fred Davis (Round 2, 2008), WR Dwayne Jarrett (2, 2007), WR Steve Smith (2, 2007), RB Reggie Bush (1, 2006), QB Matt Leinart (1, 2006), RB LenDale White (2, 2006), WR Mike Williams (1, 2005) and WR Keary Colbert (2, 2004)."

Fred Davis was a top five WR in HS, came to SC and it quickly became obvious he was overrated. I don't consider him a flop because he never looked like an elite player at the college level. And Steve Smith hasn't dissapointed in the pros, he's living up to his draft position. The rest are disapointments, the Mike Williams thing mystifies me, he obliterated the competition in college.

Great. Now an anvil is going to fall out of a city window and a safe is going to fall out of the window next to it and take both of his arms off. Thanks for that.

His arm strength reminds me of phillip rivers... A good arm, can make all the throws and is a accurate guy..

When did Matt Ryan get a "superior" NFL arm?

I hope he doesn't get used to guys being that wide open, because it's going to be a rarity on our team this year!!

My opinion is that he is not going to be nearly as tough as Pennington. I just feel like this guy is soft, that's my gut feeling. Sunny warm California boy... going to be playing in the snow, the wind, the rain of the meadowlands.

I really hope I am wrong!!

Sanchez is a Greater athlete then Pennington was Much Faster and has very good accuracy and leadership which Penny excelled at. Pennington had a decent arm coming out of college and was considered Solid for the NFL but after 2 terrible arm injuries it became a water gun of sorts but still he gets the job done... That guy has a ton of heart and i believe thats what Sanchez has aswell and his arm is very good and better then Penny's was but not a cannon.
