I like this pick more and more. I like his spins, he's really aware and he knows when the coverage is closing in and bolts for as much forward progress as he can get. He's a fun player to watch, I can't wait to see him on the field for us.
He is a very polished runner for a bruiser. He runs very fluid and senses when he needs to lower his shoulders. This could be a great pick. Man was I wrong. For all the hype about the Jets building the dominant "D" Rex turns around and gives Shotty firing power on the offense. This team will be more balanced if these picks are worth their salt.
Did you see him in the game against MSU? I remember that going into that game, Ringer had a lot of Heisman hype and he was running wild on teams every week. But I remember thinking that Greene clearly looked like the better back in that game. I really think Greene will be a better NFL RB than Moreno.

Yeah, I've seen plays where he's looked real good. If he's good he'll be like Le'Ron McClain. If he's more athletic than McClain, then maybe he'll be another Rod Bernstine. We've seen tons of guys who looked great in college, particularly in the Big 10/11, who couldn't cut it in the NFL. As to the poster who wrote the Jets traded away two picks and swapped 3rd rounders, yes, most of us understand the concept you are presenting.
The Sanchez trade was excellent, I thought. Greene might work out, but losing the 4th round pick was a bummer. I wonder why the Jets thought Greene wouldn't last till pick 76. Only one team took a running back in the 66-76 range. Maybe the 49ers would have taken him at 74.
The Sanchez trade was a great move. The Greene trade just speaks to insecurity in the Jet's organization. They had to have their guy at any cost, even though there were no doubt other people there that would have been reasonable picks on the 76 pick. It's that kind of trade up that hurts a team in the long run. There's a reason you get 7 shots at free talent each year to help both your depth and your long-term cap situation. Teams that consistently ignore those reasons wind up like the Washington Redskins.
Getting a franchise QB is the single most important thing a team can do. Getting him for the 17 pick the 52 pick and 3 guys I didn't particularly like seems like a ridiculously cheap price to pay for that. All of that said, if you don't think he's a franchise QB prospect then you're going to be very unhappy with the deal. I understand that. I happen to think he is a franchise QB prospect so I like it.
