If we had used the fifth overall pick on Monroe or A. Smith Jones would have lead the NFL in rushing next year.
People don't understand that it was our offensive line that got him there. Unfortunately, Thomas Jones doesn't understand that either.
I really hope that Sanchez is a franchise QB but the guy shot up in the draft over the last two months. If he is the second coming of John Elway then we obvioulsy made the right call. The upside is huge but we could have made other decisions that would also have upside with less risk.
Well, obviously they like Greene or they wouldn't have invested so many picks to get him. But the Jets still have glaring holes at WR and TE. I didn't think so before, but maybe the Jets have decided to trade TJ. Maybe they have to now. Unless they get someone real good for him, I hope he stays. I think he's great. I don't care if he's a baby for missing camp. He did great last year, and I want him to be a Jet this season.
I listened to the press conference today on newyorkjets.com. Rex Ryan said that he may use a 3rd tackle as a blocking TE if he doesn't get one before the season starts. Apparently they did that with success in Baltimore. He said they taught the tackle a few simple routes just to keep the defense honest, but it doesn't seem to be too big of a concern to him. Interesting.
Lets trade Jones for a WR and risk not having a decent running attack. SOunds like a good plan for a running team with a rookie QB.
Not a terrible idea. Hey Dearth is a TE but is really a long snapper, so why not juggle the roles? If it worked for Baltimore, hey...
I hope that's not their idea. Thomas Jones should be with the Jets and nowhere else, at least this season.
I have to disagree...this Greene kid is legit...TJ is unhappy and getting up in age, besides he is looking to cash in...I expect he will be trade bait soon.....
I think Jones gets one more year in New York and then he'll be moving on. If this kid they drafted is anywhere near as good as his rep, Jones just got sent a message loud and clear.
We had to make up for not drafting a RB last year when Jones was comming off the worst year of any starting running back in the league.
If Tj didn't get the message that the JETS and I don't give a rats ass about what he wants, then he is a dumb ass. He only led the AFC in rushing because of our OL and teams fear of Farve's arm. He will be traded soon.
Jones will be a Jet in 2009. He is due a big roster bonus before 2010 and may not be on the team before that happens.
Jones will play in Green and White this year, but I'm not so sure he will be back in 2010 with the money he's due. He was good for us last season, no reason not to keep him around. We lack offensive weapons, and he scored a lot of TDs last season behind our OL. I bet we see a lot more of Leon and Greene this season though
Leon Washington is not known as an every down back. If the Jets lose Jones before this season, they are IMO cashing in the season. The Jets are built to win now, and I want to see them make every attempt to win now. Next season, we'll worry about what kind of deal Jones is asking for. Right now, we need him badly.
He's not going anywhere. He's under contract, Rex wants a run heavy offense, and he is the only PROVEN every down back we have. EOS
