Again how is a team that has the 19th ranked O in yards a top 5 D a top 10 rushing attack 28th in the league in scoring and the QB is considered a good decision maker? Not throwing INT's is not the only indication of a good decision maker.
I'd take Campbell over Brady Quinn any day if it came down to trading for a QB. Difference is, the Browns are gonna want our 1st for Quinn who's about as unproven as Clemens is. Why people are more than willing to go that route than giving up as much as a 2nd for Campbell is beyond me. Mr. E's had it right all along. Campbell is a great game manager who at one point last year did not throw a pick for a long stretch of the season. The line got gradually worst as the year went on and the pass blocking suffered which led to a lot of rushed passes and sacks (and still managed to throw a low number of INT's). Not to mention he plays in one of the toughest divisions in the League with regards to defense. The reason why the Redskins might be trying to dump him isn't because he isn't good, it's probably because he doesn't fit well into Jim Zorn's west coast offense (which was new to Campbell last season). But I can't even consider that a knock on him. Instead, what I think is, Snyder is a moron because he's probably thinking why his 1st rounder isn't producing when the guy has had to learn 3 different offensive systems in back to back years.
so...because they're 28th in league in scoring....it's all on Campbell's decision making...what about the playcalling? the other players on the offense (eg their shoddy oline play....Campbell was sacked 38 times and only lost 1 fumble...i'd take that) ? That's like saying Revis is responsible for the Jets having the 29th ranked Pass defense in the league....despite being a stud player.
I think his low number of TD'S is because of the play calling every time they get by the goal line they hand it to Portis. I think he could easily have 20 TD'S in the right O.
There seems to be an idea around here that a game manager with a good D and a good running game all ingredients that the Skins had last year is all it takes to win big in this league. I'm just pointing out that 13TD's and 6 INT's are as much an indication of caution as it is game management skills. Campbell has skills I would much prefer to see him throwing 15INT's and 26TD's and getting his team in the top half of the league in scoring. He seems to be a young QB who is more afraid of making mistakes than he is of leading his team down the field. And sorry but Revis is on an Island the O revolves around the QB.
The value of Campbell is that he has more experience then anyone we got. But he is not our saviour and not worth a first or second rounder.
I don't think we're trading for Campbell, not for a minute. This is just a smokescreen for a smokescreen. The Jets are making it look like they are drawing attention away from the real smokescreen which is trading up for Sanchez. DOUBLE SMOKESCREEN
If the Campbell rumor is a smokescreen to cover the real smokescreen which is us trading up for Sanchez... what's behind that smoke screen?
Wait a second there... I thought the team was all over the idea of having Clemens start this season. This is supposed his year... you can't think that it was all just a big ol' misdirection... :breakdance: Either way, I think this might be one entertaining draft to see what we actually do. Do any of these top QB prospects actually have the ability to start right away?
That sums up Campbell very well. He seems overly cerebral and mechanical in the pocket. I honestly think it's more mental with him than anything. If he could learn to just play more on instinct his skills would probably shine more. Yet that's a big If that may never come to fruition.
I think, for what Rex want out of this team, that Campbell is a great fit. We have a coach that isn't looking to win games with a QB dropping back 50 times a game. We are a defense/running team so why not get a guy who is proven, makes less mistakes than just about anyone in the league, and has shown (due to snyder changing coaches like he changes socks) that he can learn an offense in a short amount of time. Btw, does anyone remember that the knock on him coming out of college was intelligence, since he supposedly bombed the wonderlic? I just find this funny now since I feel its safe to say he is actually one of the smarter qb's in the league when it comes to decision making and picking up an offense.
QB J. Campbell in a Jets uniform, starting??... That would be awesome!!.... Please make it happen!!....
In all seriousness...does Clemens really make you piss your pants when you see him lined up behind Center?
No but for some reason I think of the backup QB from Necessary Roughness. Screaming Blow the whistle Blow the Whistle
What's this stuff about Snyder knowing less about quality Qb's than the Jets? Doesn't anyone remember Ramsey? Yeah, the Jets really outsmarted him there. Winston is correct. The guy just doesn't produce enough points. We just got rid of a Qb like that last off season. No thanks.
our offense wont be relying on him to score points that often. its mostly gonna be the running backs driving it home
That may be the result of having to learn so many systems. I like Campbell and if we can get him for a second (w/ a late round pick fom WAS) or a third (& BT), I'm all for it. Barring a pro bowl year, he should be available next year. We still don't know what we have on our roster and getting Campbell would complicate things. He would have to learn another system and may have to learn another one if Shotty leaves. With that said, I'd much rather have him instead of a rookie qb this year (next years draft looks promising).
Campbell can make all the throws...Pennington can't. End of story. And Greenbeanz is right...the QB won't be solely relied upon to produce....the run game will carry the load.
We offered a 6th round pick for Ramsey. I don't really care for that trade and it certainly doesn't make Snyder look like less of an idiot.
