Which is such shit. I've been squatting in front of a TV on draft day every year for the past 12 drafts, my people, nay, our people deserve to have this thing played out as much as possible. They should make the picks longer even. Hell, don't stop on Saturday night, just keep going all night into Sunday. Then we'll see which teams really want it.

I agree with you, but understand why'd they do it from a business standpoint $$$$$

Yeah, shortening the rounds for tv ratings is exactly what the draft should be all about. The NFL draft is quickly becoming something it never should be: a sideshow. But hey, it's just a business, right? Maybe there should only be 1 minute between picks. Now THAT would be exciting. Who cares if a team actually improves itself or not. Watching the GM's and HC's panic would be "must see tv".

The Jets first pick will be be around 7p.m. Their second around 10 p.m. or a little later. The draft was pushed back for RATINGS which translates to $$$ for the league. The first round was cut by nearly 3 hours with the 10 minute per team pick in the 1st rd intead of 15 minutes between picks.. The 2nd round will come in at around 3hrs.

Any way you cut it, it's 12 hours of Chris Berman. He gets really old after 45 minutes.

I haven't watched the draft on ESPN in a couple of years. Berman, Kiper, McShay... I can't tolerate any of them. They are all just so annoying.

Toon, you gave me the answer to why its at 4PM EST now - you live on the west coast and it starts at 9AM. The NFL may have recognized this and realized that it needs to start later in the day on the East Coast so that the whole country is awake and ready to go. It maximizes TV ratings and let's everyone wake up. I loved my Noon start, but from a National perspective, I now understand.

The 1st round lasts 10 mins, the 2nd round 7 mins. They don't use all of the time allotted, therefore the draft won't last until midnight. You are all thinking of the 07 draft that was the longest draft ever. That's not happening again. But it will last past 9PM.

Here on the West Coast we are accustomed to early starts. It's not as big of a deal. Most of the Jet games start at 10 am here.

yeah but west coast fans wake up early for EVERYTHING. the people i know out there actually like it that way and when it changes it screws them all up.

yes its yet another douchebag move my the ultimate douchebag roger goodell.

this man and his crew will take this sport down.

this is just the latest in a long list of scumbag douchebag moves this cock sucker has made. really though does the nfl need great ratings for this? does espn or the nfl network need big ratings for this? seriously does it really fucking matter that much. must they be that greedy?

they are going in the wrong direction, while the rest of society is realizing that being a greedy scumbag is a bad thing the nfl continues to be MORE of a greedy scumbag than they already were.

i hope there is a firealarm and the whole thing gets rained out.

    scumbags

phew now that i got that out of my system!

    And no Berman.

I think they moved it back to make the idiots stand outside and wait another four hours, and to be drunker.

I plan to be smashed by the time the Jets pick.

If Sanchez goes somewhere other than the Jets I'm taking 5 shots of Jack on the spot so I can cry myself to sleep.

This is nothing new, they did this last season and we were all there for that. First and Second round on Saturday, the rest Sunday.

i think the issue some are having isnt with the 1st 2 rounds happening on saturday it is more with the time they are starting the draft. they are trying to high profile it while still being able to get 2 rounds worth of picks in. watch next year they will do 1 round starting at 8pm. est.

i would laugh but it really wouldnt surprise me. i liked the post about speed drafting that got a little chuckle out of me.
