I don't like Mr Goodell , I don't like many of his policies and this latest hair-brained idea I hope will seal his fate.
Vick is apologetic and genuinely remorseful? , yeah so would I be if I lost all that cash...

I don't care. The man may be a douchebag, but so are many of the men that play in the NFL.

He paid his debt to society. Let him make his living.

Otherwise, he'd probably be carjacking or selling crack.

he's not playing this year, or next. He'll never make an NFL squad.

    He'll play in the UFL

I'm not sure exactly what you're mad about, gus. Goodell didn't say that Vick is apologetic and remorseful, but that he has to be to be considered for reinstatement. Why is that a problem? Do you feel that Vick should never be allowed back in the NFL under any circumstance? Or do you think that he should be able to come back as soon as he's out of prison without any restrictions?

If the NFL is really planning on using the UFL as a kind of minor league, I can see them using it as a kind of probation for discipline cases... I would guess that Goodell gives Vick a year or two to 'think' about things.

I love that treating dogs badly might end vicks career, but Leonard little killed someone and didn't even miss a full season.

And the guy whose family he killed in an NFL photographer I believe. I remember seeing a special on that. I think Little had a DUI after that accident and the husband guy came out to the press about LL.

Funny how that works out right? He kills someone in a DUI accident, then 6 years later gets busted for DUI again. All of this and he was only suspended for 8 games. I guess the DUI accident occurred when he was a "nobody"

totally agree, it doesnt matter about the fame. Frankly its difficult to find someone who can say, seriously, that beating a dog is worse than a human being. Mike Vick is still probably one of the best athletes in the NFL (not quarterback) if Pac man gets millions of retries than Vick should get just as many

All it takes is the very best attorney that $$$ can buy.

I saw film of Leonard Little out talking to school kids. I swear to God, Leonard Little is going to feel like dog shit, every single day for the rest of his life.

IMHO there is a big diff between Little & Vick. Little definitely has a conscious. From what I have read about Vick, he does not seem to have much of a conscious.

Here's the rub... as commissioner of a PRIVATE league, he has every right to be as judicious as he wants to be to allow someone to participate in that league. It comes down to the fact that he is a liability to the league and any team he plays for because he is high risk for doing the wrong thing. I for one am very glad to see them cracking down on guys who break the law and end up causing problems. It is probably one of the few things I have been happy about with Goodell's appointment overall.

These guys need to recognize that playing in that league has expectations about how they conduct themselves, because it has consequences on the overall product. Personally, I think it is also warranted because it is important to provide better role models to young ones coming up and looking up to these guys, but I realize maybe I'm a minority in this day and age for that sort of soap box stuff.

Sociopathic behavior is not treatable. I really doubt that some NFL team will be desperate enough to give Vick another chance.

Too bad, the guy was blessed with talent.

Not sure what you mean here, Gus. What hare-brained scheme? Goodell is just saying that Vick will need to show genuine remorse to be considered for a return to the NFL. He isn't saying he has shown it, and he isn't saying he will let him back into the league.

An ethical debate is the last thing I want on this board, about if killing a dog is worse or better than killing a human. Bottom line is that the guy has done 2 years in jail. You need to think of this with an open mind...Sure what he did was horrendous, cruel, and disgusting. But keep in mind that where Vick came from, this was not out of the ordinary to attend and be involved in dog fighting. Not unlike some guys who are involved in underground card playing...it's illegal, but if you grow up doing it, you really don't think it's that wrong. Now I realize nothing DIES while playing cards, but I'm just trying to give another view on what he did. Give the guy a shot in the NFL again. If he can make it, he makes it. If he has somehow lost all of his athletic ability and is unable to take a roster spot, then it wasn't meant to be.

If we're going to ban people from the NFL based on morals, then we're going to be missing 75% of the league. Vick paid his debt, regardless of what anybodies personal feelings may be. Reinstate him.
