How can I have Tyson Jackson so high when everyone knows I think he's over-rated? Well Gil Brandt virtually assured he will be a TOP 5 PICK and I Just can't bet against the old sage Make sure you check out the link I posted as well, there are some other interesting "Gil Brandt" tidbits in there as well
As overrated as you may think he is, Jackson has been pegged between 9-16 in everything I've seen. I think his value has gone up because he is the only legitimate 34 end available early (that includes the pool boy) and GB, Denver and Kansas City are all converting to the 34 plus Cleveland, San Fran and San Diego are all 34 teams in the top 16.
I think if you are Detroit, and are comfortable with Stafford, you pull the trigger and hope decent OT falls to their second 1st round selection. You can find OT's, but good QB's are tough to find as Detroit knows. They are clearly not a win now team, and can even afford to let him sit for awhile. It's time for them to build from ground up. If they pass on Stafford, do they consider Freeman at 20? That seems even riskier IMO.
Good mock. I see Cleveland going Raji though. It is a physical division, they need a presence against the run and big bodies up front. Raji flexible enough player to learn NT and DE. also gives Mangini flexibility with Shaun Rogers. heard those 2 haven't hit it off. Orakpo has a bit of the Gholston risk to it. If i'm Mangini, i take the safer big man route. With 1/2 the league using some variation of a 3-4 now, NT's are at a premium more than ever.
I feel like Detroit's best option is OT first overall, and hope that Freeman falls to their 2nd first round pick, which i think is extremely possible
Maybin too small for the 3-4? That's a new one. Seattle is a real wildcard. I think their pick comes down to Crabtree or Sanchez. If they're playing for the future, they should take Sanchez. If they think that they're built to win now for some reason, it's Crabtree. Tyson Jackson is an interesting fit. He could probably help at DE on running downs and DT on passing downs. Interesting.. Quite a fall for Monroe and I think Andre Smith takes a Alan Branch or Winston Justice type of fall.. Ayers could work for the Texans. Ayers could probably help inside too. But they've invested 3 or their last 4 first round picks on defensive lineman and just dished out a huge contract to Antonio Smith. I think they'll wait on a DL. I'd take Moreno in a heartbeat. I don't think Chris Wells will go to the Colts.. I'd say Donald Brown is a better option for them. I think Laurinaitis falls out of round one. Nice job overall though. You're always good for a few new perspectives (Tyson Jackson to the Bengals for example) and it's nice to see. I'd like to see an encore of the 2nd round too.
broncos won't take andre smith as they had 2 tackles that let up 1.5 sacks combined last year... they have too many holes on D.... i love the jets taking knowshon though
From what I've seen, I think Jackson is going to be a good pro. I was hoping he'd be available for the Jets, but that's probably not going to be the case.
Just for the record, I made some slight revisions based on some late info pouring in, most notably I now have Sanchez to the Rams and Jason Smith to the Seahawks
I'm surprised and the guy who told me he'll be a 1 is normally very reliable, but it looks like Gilbert had slid and now there's even a chance the Jets can land in him RD 2 hmy:
