I dont know if this was posted or not but i was just listening to 1050 and they were reporting the jets want Sanchez and are talking to the Jags about the 8th pick in the Draft. Apparently the jags want to get this deal done now. Reportedly if they do it now it would be the Jets First, Second and a Fifth HOWEVER if they wait until Draft day it would be the Jets, First, Second and third round pick of next year. Obviously if the Jets do it now and Sanchez isnt there they're pretty screwed. I would do this in a heartbeat so we can finally get a franchise qb to build a team around.. and it would be a pretty sweet jersey to get to.
Putting aside the issue of whether Sanchez is really a franchise QB-to-be, considering that many people are predicting that Sanchez will be gone by the 4th pick, they would be insane to make this deal now.
I think Sanchez will be there at 8, but it's a huge gamble to do it now. Even if we do it we'll grab a good prospect at 8 but one worth giving up that much for? I'd rather wait and offer them the same deal Saturday at around 5:30 PM
If this happens I'm walking down to Radio City and laying a steaming dump on the pavement in front of the joint.
Yep, just heard this on WFAN also. So basically, we'll have like two draft picks if we do this now? Sounds dumb to me because there's no guarantee Sanchez will be available at #8, if that's indeed the guy we'd be trading up for.
I really don't mind trading up to get a prospect like Sanchez, however, doing this BEFORE the draft is such a risk. No one knows where Sanchez lies in each teams prospect list, so there are no indication if any of the top 7 teams are gunning for him. Judging by his latest stock rise and the media to continually spotlight Sanchez, I'm taking that some teams have him pretty high.
I don't have the patience to rummage through all the Sanchez threads, but the closer we get to possibly getting him, there's one thing I wonder: what's he like in windy & inclement weather?
And what if Sanchez turns out to have the same effect Matt Ryan had on his team? I'm not 100% advocating we do this deal but at the same time but if the front office believes he will be the franchise QB and Clemens won't then I'm not gonna be too pissed about it
I suppose you could make the argument that perhaps we are moving up for 2-3 guys that we think MAY be there...that we're comfortable taking. I still think we're better off trading down or staying put in a draft like this.
It seems implausible that they would do a trade like this with no guarantee of getting the guy that they're targeting. I would be totally shocked.
This is nothing more than the team doing their due diligence so if the Draft unfolds a certain way, they're more than ready to take the necessary steps to get us the best player out there. Maybe this is so that we can take Maclin if he slips past Crazy Al.
Besides (possibly) Sanchez, who else at that spot is worth the price? Maclin? Not even close, and he'll be gone anyway. Raji? No. It would be terrible to trade up and have the Seahawks take Sanchez.
Or could it be for a number of different players Sanchez Jackson Except for Curry we would have our pick of whatever LB we wanted
