If you're really Jewish, you can't even touch a football, so I guess they should at least be allowed to watch when they can...

    Leviticus 11:7-8
7 And the pig, though it has a split hoof completely divided, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you. 8 You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you.

So good luck with all that.

This is a very common anti-semetic act: an unlearned person offers their interpretation of Hebrew scripture as fact. How would you feel if the voodoo folks interpreted Christian scripture as such and such? You'd most likely say "leave the interpretation of our scriptures to us, and interpret your own voodoo scripture".

^you need to get over your persecution complex. Jews in general have a legendary sense of humor.

I don't know jack about religion, but that seemed pretty straight forward. What else would it mean?

^Thanks for asking in such a nice way wsw: It is up to the Rabbincal authorties to deterimine if this statement applies to a football. They have ruled that it does not, hence, jews including orthodox play football all the time.

We played a Monday Night game back in 2006 on Christmas night again the Phins in Miami. We won that game 13-10 in a down pour. Thanks to Leon!

    Agreed.

Thankfully, other members of this forum, such as the author of the language quoted above, can offer intelligent remarks on an important issue.

I always thought God made the NFL play on Sunday so Jews could go to services all day Saturday and go to the games on Sunday?

I always thought it was a little cruel of God to make Christians chose between going to Church and going to games.

Maybe this is God's way of testing all of our faith?

Your statement is universal and could be held true by any religion and its followers.

Look how it reads if you take out any specific religion (changed in bold):

This is a very common anti-religious act: an unlearned person offers their interpretation of religious scripture as fact. How would you feel if the anti-religious folks interpreted religious scripture as such and such? You'd most likely say "leave the interpretation of our scriptures to us, and interpret your own voodoo scripture".[/

Maybe you and some others should heed your own advice before telling Christians how important their high Holy days are in relation to yours. Not specifically saying that you did but some others on here have definitely implied it, if not flat out stated it.

Noone likes to be told how to interpret their religion and its teachings. It's a purely individual decision on how they decide to reflect and observe religious occasions.

This goes for people of every religion.

I really don't think anyone meant to imply that Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashanna are more important to Jews than Christmas and Easter are to Christian. I think the point was that strict observance of the Jewish holy days require a greater time commitment from faithful Jews and its really not much of a bother to anyone else to move the game to 1pm. I mean, does anyone really have a big problem with that?

Fair enough. I have no problem with that whatsoever and would love to see the game moved, if possible, to make sure we cater to our entire fanbase.

Marty Glickman would have wanted it that way.

Just a few of his greatest hits. I left out the one where he asks a Muslim poster to "try not to blow things up".

I have been very disappointed with some of my ganggreen colleagues in this thread. The quote above is exactly right, and those performing bashing of my religion, apparently see what they want to see.

Marty Glickman has long been a hero to me. What he did at the Hitler Olympics was very brave. He also was a great Jets announcer. Loved his referneces to "G. Barkum."

Likewise Revis. You make a lot of good points and I enjoy reading your posts.

Now onto more important matters, 8 days until the draft!
