Asking price for Boldin is first and a third ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reports that the Cardinals' asking price for Anquan Boldin is first- and third-round picks. Sal Pal says the Eagles, Giants, Jets, and Ravens have already shown interest. Noticeably absent from that list are the Dolphins, Titans, Raiders, and Vikings. Pull the trigger. He's a proven commodity, will probly only cost marginally more than a 1st round WR would and he instantly improoves our offense.
Boldin would be great in a ball control offense with his ability to gain YAC, but you have to wonder how long it will be before his body starts breaking down, what with the way he plays.
I agree. A first and a third is too much for a guy with questionable health. Excellent player, yes... but the Jets have a lot more needs than WR... let's keep the picks and address multiple positions.
Rebuilding process? We're coming off a 9-7 season, any improvement at all is a playoff berth. I'd hardly call it rebuilding coming off a season where we were in position to go deep into the playoffs if not for a late season collapse. Edit: And on topic, 1st and a 3rd is too much for boldin. I'd give up a 2nd and a conditional pick in 2010.
I would be okay with 17 and a 2010 3rd rounder, but I can't imagine two of our top three picks this year going away.
Anything greater than 17 overall for Boldin and Arizona's second rounder is too much. That equates (roughly) to the Value of the 26th overall pick.Which is alot to get back for a player you cant pay.

I'm a little hesitant right now about this trade. However, I don't know why people think giving up a 1st and 3rd would be giving up too much for a player like Boldin. If we were to draft a WR in the 1st round anyway, aren't we technically really just giving up a 3rd for Boldin? That doesn't sound like a steep price to me. Not to mention that the last couple of years we've been terrible at picking out good 3rd round talent anyway.
I think the problem here in Boldin vs. a rookie is that there's the great possibility that you'll get fewer years out of Boldin; he's older and plays like a RB after the catch, so he takes a lot of hard hits. As such, his career is likely going to be shorter than other receivers who play a less physical game in addition to him already having a number of years on the rookies. I love Boldin, but it might just be better to use one pick on the draft at the position as he's not going to be the player to put us over the top. If we could trade back in the first and grab Hakeem Nicks, I'll be a happy man; I personally see Boldin 2.0 in him, and I know I'm not alone.
New CS & no QB, yes we are clearly rebuilding. We have some nice pieces to work with on D but the O is looking like it could be worst in the league. We are not a WR away from contention, if we were I would be fine with a first & third for Boldin. I think he would be worth it to a contending team, unfortunately we are not a contending team right now. Last year means nothing to this year, we had a hall of fame QB that was playing to nearly a MVP level for our best stretch last year. He collapsed down the stretch and there went any semblance of of a playoff squad. This team can't be taken seriously until we solve the QB issue, that should be the main priority for this draft. I'll gladly give up this first and third to move up to get one.
How is grabbing Boldin with a 1st and 3rd not considered rebuilding. We're most likely drafing a WR in the first round anyway, and why not sacrifice an additional 3rd rounder to get a proven stud WR? I sure wouldn't miss the 3rd round selection if we traded for Boldin.
I think for a First and a third we should go after him. He is a little old, this would be his 8th year in the league.. The only problem is he wants 7-8 mill a year and can we afford that?
I hate when guys say lets keep our picks when over 50% of them turn out to be total busts if you can get a proven guy you get him. I am not saying give up a first & third for Boldin but I would give up the 17th pick for him.
I do too and I agree, Boldin has been battered in recent years. Here's the way I see it. We're going to pick up a WR in the first 3 rounds. I think everyone can agree to this. Scenario 1: There's a strong chance Maclin is gone by 17, so out the door goes a WR in the first, so we may be left with picking up a RB (Moreno), which I'd be thrilled with. I see Nicks going early in the 2nd round which will leave us WR-less unless Robinskie is there, which he could be. Boldin >>> Robinskie And we're left off in the 3rd round looking for depth players. Scenario 2: The most ideal thing would be to trade our 1st and 3rd for Boldin. Boom! We got out WR. In the 2nd we pick up Greene and we have our WR/RB combo. Third we don't pick and we pick up depth talent in the 4th. I'll go with scenario 2 hands down which will set our offense up nicely for next season. Scenario 1 leaves too much twists and turns up to the Draft which I don't like.
