good for him... he deserves an number in the 80s... i'm not a big fan of WRs using numbers in the teens.
Well I'm pretty sure that was his # in college. I also hate watching receivers with numbers in the teens. It just doesn't look right IMO.
Clowney has one career catch but I already am more interesting in owning a Clowney jersey than I ever was a Coles jersey.
Didn't another NY receiver wearing 17 shoot himself by accident? Guess Clowney thinks it's a bad luck number
I think Keyshawn re-started that trend when he wore #19, I don't remember anyone doing that before him since the early 70s. That was because he held out as a rookie, came to camp late and that was the number he got. At USC he was #3.
Good for Clowney. Giving him 87 means we are serious about him and kinda throws a finger at LC, which I am also fine with.
I don't think it throws a finger at Coles, people take the number thing too seriously. There's only so many to go around within the league rules for a position. Coles switched to #80 when he went to Washington to tribute Chrebet.
Yeah I don't think this throws a finger at Coles only because Clowney was number 87 in college. If he was a different number in college I would have a different feeling. He was probably 87 throughout HS and college and just wanted to get his number back.
Looks like those Coles jerseys will be of some use after all. If you own an authentic take the name off and have a screen print shop sew on or print on CLOWNEY.......
that's if he gets any good. If Clowney fails, keep the Coles on it because he was a good player for the Jets.
