What is on the left side of the Mets hats this year? I only saw a part of it in various photos. It does not appear to be that dopey patch we discussed a couple months ago.

^It's a different Citi Field patch, more along the lines of what should be on their shoulders.

Thanks for posting that. I will assume caps with that patch will be sold at Citi Field. If so, I will buy one on the 19th.

I'm going on Saturday, for my second spring training game. The first came in the '07 season when we played the Rays on the last day of ST at Tropicana Field.

I'm a Kazmaniac. He's had a decent career since leaving NY.

I guess "decent" is a reasonable characterization. Taking into account ballpark effects, he's gone from being well below-average for the Mets to average for Colorado and Houston.

In 2007 he scored a run 47% of the time he reached base, which led the league. He had a .340 OPS. He's a decent .280~.290 hitter, which is nothing to sneeze at.

His problem was that he was hyped to hell and back and took Jose's position from him. If he was billed as a decent hitting gritty guy (which he is, that grand slam he hit in the playoffs for Colorado was evidence of that in of itself) then he would of been fine in NY. Instead he was supposed to be the second coming.

His fielding has also gotten a ton better since he left NY.

His numbers in 2007 with Colorado are almost identical to what he put up in his first year with the Mets. Last year was the first time he was even league average in terms of offensive production. The runs scored % is irrelevant and says more about the quality of hitters he had behind him in the lineup than anything about Matsui.

Yeah, it probably was chilly that day. You could tell by looking at the guy in the background with his hands in his pants. Then again, maybe he's just playing pocket pool.

Gary fucking Sheffield? Admitted Steroid user?

He sucked bad enough for the Tigers to cut him and we think this is a good signing? Jesus fucking christ.

Wait, if the ball hits the orange line, it's a home run, not over? That's really stupid.

Murphy better not be taking routes like that all of the time. Or ever again.

The stadium looks really nice. I like the brick backstop. A little surprised to see so many empty seats though. I know it's not a real game but still.
