The energy and time spent talking trash about opponents would be better put to use on him improving as a safety. When Rhodes becomes an All-Pro maybe I'll care a little more about what he says.
It's funny, if it hadn't been for a completely flawed voting process, Rhodes would have been a Pro Bowler and Cutler would never have been voted in ths year. Neither of them are all that great for their position, and I don't see anything wrong with Rhodes calling a pig a pig.
I wrote All-Pro because that actually means something. The Pro Bowl is a farce as is the voting process as you noted. Cutler is a better QB than Rhodes is a safety. Cutler was the NFL player of the month in September 2008. That was the first month of what was to be his second full season as a starter in the NFL. The chances are pretty good that he is going to be an elite QB. Rhodes said bad things about Cutler after a loss. Was I up in arms about it then? No. Am I up in arms about it now? No, but I do think that Jets players don't need to call out players on other teams. It's about being professional.
Much ado about nothing there. On the other hand, JCotchrocket used the word "dick" and you went with "intolerable douchebag."
Right. I see we're being liberal with our judgments. What Rhodes said was not really that harsh, and I don't think it's far off from what Cutler had to say about Rivers.
Cutler was asked a question about an opponent and didn't say much other than that he didn't like the guy. Rhodes, on the other hand, volunteered info to the media. That's the way I remember it. I could be wrong. JCotchrocket claims Rhodes called Cutler "a dick" and you claimed that Rhodes implied that Cutler is an "intolerable douchebag."
Rhodes got an up close view of Jay Cutler "the player" and "the person". There is a reason Jay Cutler is the only person he's ever come out and said something against. Cutler acts like a child on the field and off the field.
I haven't read anywhere that he volunteered info to the media, and haven't found it depicted like that, either.
Tannenbaum is going to be the genius he is and acquire him for a 3rd round pick, a conditional first next year as long as his whining is less than 10% of a full season, and a bottle of rum.
I'm going to concede the debate to you in part because you seem to know more about Rhodes' comment than do I and in part because I've already spent enough time on the issue.
