If I was a Bronco fan I would be steaming knowing my quarterback, all of 25 years old, is leaving because of a new coach. Just atrocious. As far as suggesting Revis be included in a trade....HELL NO!. I wouldn't trade him for anyone. I'm not reading 240 replies, whoever suggested this should be taken out back and shot.
The only way I see Revis getting traded is because Tanny wouldn't want to pay Revis in his contract year since Asomugha inflated the CB market so much that Revis could actually be the highest paid player on the team, ahead of Cutler...I don't see Revis being traded though. But that could be an afterthought.
We will not trade Revis, one of the reasons Ryan was intrigued by coaching the Jets was Darrelle Revis (I think he said that in his press conference). That being said, I'd offer this year's 1 and 3 and next year's 2 and maybe another late round pick somewhere. If that doesn't get it done, Kellen Clemens it is!
I understand everyone's unwillingness to consider a trade with Revis, I think it would be a terrible idea... but Woody can supersede any logical football philosophy to pull a PSL stunt. That's exactly what Cutler is. A brash, cocky, self-absorbed, rocket-armed 25 year old Pro Bowl QB. I don't like him, but he would sell some of Woody's precious licenses. He's Brett Favre-lite 13 years younger. I don't think Woody would blink before pushing a deal like that for any player on his roster.
I don't think the Broncos really care about all that right now. Sure, they are going to want solid compensation for Cutler, but at the same time, they don't want to make another mistake by keeping him within the conference... I know if I was making the decision, I would never even consider trading Cutler within the AFC. You just don't do that, it only sets you up for further "down the road" headaches. I think he ends up in the NFC, somewhere like Detoit, Chicago, Tampa, or Minnesota....
While the thought of having this kid in the green and white obviously is very intriguing....who's to say Mr. Sensativo is going to be a star here. His arm is not the problem but his bloated head seems to be a huge problem. I would take a flier on him, but that's just not going to happen. This isn't like the Brett Favre case, where you're getting a 39-year-old QB. Cutler is a 25-year-old QB with his NFL career still in front of him. That being said, you're going to have to outbid as many as six other teams to get him. Is it that worth it? It's going to take at least three picks, and two starters to outbid any of these teams. Realistically. Why would Denver take KC or BR when they could have Detroit's first pick? Again, this really isn't a shot at Cutler's ability, just whether or not he has the mental health to thrive in NYC and whether the package they'd have to give up would ultimately be worth throwing the team chemistry out of whack.
Yes, and I think Ratty will beat out Clemens by the 3rd game of pre-season. Even though Ratty has proven he can throw it long that is not how games are won in the NFL on average. More importantly, even though Ratty was playing against the 2nd and 3rd stringers, he showed strong command of where to throw the ball quickly (quick decision making - that is something that is difficult to teach.)
If they were concerned about Cutler being that good, they wouldn't be trading him. They sell him to the highest bidder, plain and simple. Whoever gives them the most talent and picks will end up with Cutler.
your out of your mind DUDE. This would solidify the QB position for the next 10 years! With a QB that is just hitting his stride. A pro- bowler! With a HUGE chip on his shoulder! I can't understand anyone not wanting this guy. JUST DON'T TRADE REVIS!!
Well, NE who is a lot smarter at this than Denver probably is had no qualms trading Cassell within the Conference. The division would be a different story. Bah..I did it again. I keep responding to the wrong posts.
If people don't want to see Jay Cutler cry and whine like a baby here in NY, then don't bring him in here and officially announce that he will be our Franchise QB, he's our guy for years to come, and that we will build a championship team around him...and then turn around and use him as trade bait the same year he makes the Jets the 2nd best offense in the entire league. If we can guarantee him that we won't do something stupid like that, I think he'd appreciate it. Does anyone here truly believe that if McDaniels hadn't even thought about trading Cutler for Cassell that he'd be considered a whiny baby today? Or would he still just be one of those top 10 QB that fans of the sport usually recognize him for?
Brilliently stated. The minute a guy makes some noise and isn't happy everyone jumps on his back and stamps him as a malcontent. Athletes have ego's. It goes with the territory. You have to have a little bit of conceit to be that talented. The guy now feels he's got something to prove. Who better then REX to fuel the fire of how Mcdumbass disrespected him and make him play his ass off to show DEnver they ruined their franchise by trading him? Mcdumbass is gonna be run out of Denver in as year. Mark my words.
