I think the situation is that they already started the renovations -- most likely past the point of no return.
yeah, it sounds like if it's left as is, they would not be able to play there. Someone needs to finish the job. A shame Herm isn't still coaching there, or else we could've heard his opinion on this.
How 'bout four teams merge into two and the league goes back to 30 teams? Four teams with stadium issues go in. Two teams come out. Chiefs and Vikings become one and move to San Antonio. Bills and Chargers become one and move to Los Angeles.
That post should not have been taken as seriously as it was. This is what makes writing on the internet less than easy at times. ___ Anyway, since I'm here and on the subject- In my opinion, the quality of play was better in the 1980s than it is today. A large part of this is due to expansion. The league was better with 28 teams. Less was more. Today's NFL is watered down. winstonbiggs is another poster who shares this opinion. For the league to contract there would have to be severe attendance issues in places like Minnesota and Buffalo with nowhere to relocate the teams. It would be cool to get back down to 28 or even 30 teams, but the chances are slim to none.
I would be really pissed if I was KC being pretty much blackmailed into giving a better deal. I say break there lines and get some non labor guys in there. It would be different if the entire area's economy wasnt effected by this. Its kinda of dickish for them to do at the point of no return for the organization.
The company is screwing themselves in the process, I would guess the NFL would make sure they pay dearly for this.
It can only help them to play every game away. Hard to hurt based on their records over the past two years.
Ok did some research... Jayhawks stadium only seats 50,000. So that is probably no good. Same with Kansas State, 52,000. Missouri....62,000 so that is possible...though Arrowhead seats 79,000. not sure what other stadiums are in MO.
They could try to scramble and setup some kind of deal with the Rams, but I am not sure how far apart the stadiums are.
Neither would be ideal but better than no home games at all. I think K-State is too far, Missouri is an hour or two, Kansas I think is pretty close. The baseball stadium is in the same complex next to Arrowhead but I don't know if they can configure it for football, they probably can. They had bowl games at the SF Giants place and the Diamondbacks stadium, if they can do that I'm sure they could fit it in Kaufman or whatever it's called now.
PacBell was designed as a multi-purpose stadium, but baseball the main emphasis. I'm not sure about Chase Field.
