Also what is shady about it is they are saying the Broncos offered more & they where turned down by the Pats. Why would the Pats turn them down if they offered more?
You stated that franchise QBs dont come cheap in reference to me stating "...if Quinn comes cheap". What was your point in bringing up franchise QBs unless you are calling Quinn one? Quinn is a guy who isn't liked by the new coaching staff and was brought in by the old one, therefore he can come in relatively cheap. And I don't think the majority of this board realizes how highly valued picks are in trades. A 2nd rounder got the Chiefs Matt Cassell (who has done a hell of a lot more than Quinn) AND Vrabel, so its very reasonable that we can get Quinn "cheap". Belichick claims there was no offer of a first rounder, but from what many have gathered, Vrabel was already in Kansas City and a deal had already been worked out before any of these other alleged offers came out.
Again, Mr Wizard... Quinn was the flavor of the day for "get em cheap" patrol... I see your magic 8 ball came up "you know all" again... Once again, Patriot dealings are being compared to Jet dealings. Of coarse Bellicheck clains that, the guy is like the CIA w/ secret tapes of people, probably people in the NFL office... that why gets away with whatever he wants. The pats get away with just about whatever they want right now, including back door deals. That doesn't make it right. It's just reality. We have and always will be looked at like a bastard child in our own market, and in the NFL unitl we win CONSISTENLY.
I agree with you on his one. People need to remember that this is more then jsut player or pick value involved in any trade. The Pats got a pick just out side the first round for an aging MLB and the guy who would effectively been thier back up. They cleared a ton of cap space, Kept a starting QB from signing inside thier own divison by franchising him, and received a high pick to help restock with young talent. It was a very, very good move for them.
I'm still not seeing your point or why the hell you're so angry. YOU brought up the idea of franchise QBs, not me. And are you seriously accusing the Patriots of making a "back door deal" in which they got less than value? I'm really not seeing what you're getting at.
You got that right. If i'm trading for a QB it's Cutler. If not i'm sticking with our guys to battle it out.
Why stop there? Let me help you. Broncos get: Brady Quinn (CLE), 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th rounder (NYJ) Browns get: Darrelle Revis (NYJ), Kris Jenkins (NYJ), Kerry Rhodes (NYJ), Jerricho Cotchery (NYJ) and Rights to 50% of the new Jets stadium Jets get: Jay Cutler (DEN) and in Mangini's good graces again
I followed Notre Dame very closely when Quinn was there (I think I missed all of 2 Notre Dame games in his entire collegiate career) and, personally speaking, I don't think he's going to be any kind of bigtime franchise quarterback. He doesn't have overwhelming physical tools and he doesn't come up big in big games. In college, He was an above average quarterback who had very solid offensive talent around him and he put up huge numbers against far inferior teams. I'd rather Let Ratliff, Clemens, and Ainge compete than give up anything to go get Quinn.
that was quite funny! so what does everyone think the going rate is for quinn? i personally have no idea but would be interested to see what more others have to say. shit we may be able to just wait a couple months till mangina decides hes not a mangina guy and cuts him and then we pick him up for NOTHING. although i would rather move bryan thomas contract.
SNY says they believe it's going to take two first round picks and a new long-term contract for Cutler for the Jets to get Cutler.
Moss' production was fell off and everybody thought he had peaked. That's why he was had for so little. Quinn is probably worth a 2nd or 3rd. In Cleveland's mind at least. I bet Cutler would cost at least 2 first rounders for a team with-out a QB to send back.
Cutler has proven he can do it. Quinn ranks above KC and Ratliff, but he is still in that category of players who have not proven anything. Not worth giving up anything when Ratliff might end up being better.
Quinn will probably go for a third rounder. I can't see anything more. He hasn't distinguished himself and he barely made it into the first round when he was drafted. Possibly a 3rd and a late pick next year. Anderson would probably go for a 4th and if I were picking I would probably take Anderson first. He has great size for a NFL QB and he did have one good year at least so he may be coachable.
You did put some thought into the players and numbers and it could work. Good part: Known Mangini guys: Kellen Clemens (NYJ), Abram Elam (NYJ), Dwight Lowery (NYJ) We know they really want Elam. Bad part: Gets would get up way too many of our depth players. Kellen Clemens (NYJ), Bryan Thomas (NYJ), Abram Elam (NYJ), Dwight Lowery (NYJ) Plus 1st rounder (NYJ), 4th rounder (NYJ) My math says: (value and what we would be giving up) Kellen Clemens = 3rd (we spend a 2nd but overpaid) Bryan Thomas = 2nd (he is a starter and originally was a 1st) Abram Elam = 4th (Mangini wants him) Dwight Lowery = 4th (is a good player and could be a starter) So you say Cutler is worth = 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 4th, 4th I agree! I would pay two 1st for him!
Haha, thomas is valued as a second round pick? Wtf are you smoking? He's a 5th at best. Doesn't matter what round we drafted him in. You find me a team who values him as a 2nd and I'll prove to you big foot is real.
