But he can block AND catch. Our TE is a prototype. He's more of a wideout, not a tight end. True. Kerry Rhodes did come out of it. But he couldve came out of it anyway. The only extra picks we got was a 2nd round pick and TWO 6th round pick. Rhodes was picked in the 4th round. So saying that Rhodes came out of it is redundant because his pick was not given to us, we had that pick, unlike the 1st pick we gave up. Besides Heath Miller, we could have taken Luis Castillo at DT instead of taking Pouha in the 3rd, and we took Mike Nugent in the 2nd where Frank Gore, Lofa Tatupu, etc were all on the board. The bottom line it was a horrendous trade. Who did we get in 2005 from that trade that has been remotely useful?! or still on the team? No one.
Rhodes came as a result of picks qwe got in that deal. Heath Miller is average, I;'m not disappointed we didn't get him. The guys we drafetd didn't pan out but I'd make that trade again in a heartbeat knowing we got Rhodes.
I remember we jumped in front of the Ravens I think, because they wanted him. I remember thinking "If the Ravens wanted him, he must be good."
What do you mean a first wasn't just for Jolly, okay... we traded a 1st round pick for Jolly, 2nd pick and two 6th round picks... Is that more accurate? The point is it was a horrendous trade. Nothing came from it. Rhodes was a 4th round pick we got from Jacksonville, so NO we received nothing of value from that trade in 2005. the only player we got in the draft was Rhodes. Heres a complete list for those who are "misinformed": 2 15(47) Mike Nugent PK Ohio St. -OAKLAND 2 25(57) Justin Miller CB Clemson 3 24(88) Sione Pouha DT Utah 4 22(123) Kerry Rhodes S Louisville- JACKSONVILLE 5 25(161) Andre Maddox S NC State 6 8(182) Cedric Houston HB Tennessee- OAKLAND 6 24(198) Joel Dreessen TE Colorado St.- OAKLAND 7 26(240) Harry Williams WR Tuskegee Two things can be taken from this. We thank Jacksonville for Rhodes. And we can blame Bradway for a horrendous trade.
If you watched him play (more than just the Jets game) I don't think anyone would entertain trading him. There is a very short list of QBs you'd want on your team for the next ten years and he is near the top. (In case you are wondering, I think that list includes Cutler, Big Ben, Ryan, Rivers, and E.Manning. You could make an argument for guys like Flacco, Campbell and Romo.)
I agree the INT's are a concern but bear in mind that he threw over 600 passes last year. His INT to Pass Attempt Ratio was 1:33, he's 1:34 for his career. Peyton Mannings career ratio is 1:36. Pennington's is 1:38. Also, that game at the meadowlands was one of two games all season he had a 100 yard rusher. Their running game was very inconsistent.
I don't think people were arguing whether the trade was good or bad as it was obviously horrible. Rather, they wanted you to get your facts straight, i.e. the Jets did not trade their 1st round pick for just Doug Jolley.
most definitely did not get Rhodes of out of that deal. That is an epic typo or misinformation. we got a 2nd pick. two 6th round picks. we got a 4th round pick from Jacksonville in a completely different deal. Jacksonville traded its fourth-round pick (No. 123) to the New York Jets for the Jets? fourth- and sixth-round picks (Nos. 127 and 185). New York selected Louisville FS Kerry Rhodes. Jacksonville selected Virginia RB Alvin Pearman and Hawaii WR/RS Chad Owens.
Yes, thats is much more accurate. I never argued that the trade was good, just that your facts were wrong.
Again I'm not trying to argue that the trade was bad.... guys need to stop sweating the redundant details such as we got a 2nd rounder in Nugent, and two 6th round picks for players who never played on this team.... Just say the trade was for Jolley. And thats it.
Not sure why you are getting heated at me. You are the one who mentioned that someone else was WRONG when they accurately corrected your mistake. Whatever... For what it's worth, at the time, people on here LOVED the deal once the Jets got Justin Miller who they had a giant hard-on for leading up to the draft.
Obviously Cutler and his agent are trying to force there hand. They do not want to trade him or he'd already be on the block.
Fair point. The Broncos were getting someone (Cassel) that McDaniels was familiar with and he viewed as comparable to Cutler...not that I agree with that. As a rookie head coach, McDaniels wanted every possible advantage he could get. You can also throw in the contract Cutler will deserve in two years.
NOW but they were working a deal to get the 1 year wonder Cassell to replace him. That's not a good sign.
The story I read was they were contacted about the trade and turned it down. It wasn't like they were shopping Cutler or actively trying to get Cassell. Did I miss something?
Do you really look at things in a vacuum? You can't simple say that they were going to trade Cutler for Cassel and completely discount McDaniels.
